Liz Lemon Gets an iPhone!

When 30 Rock returned Thursday night, I was mostly excited just to see one of my favorite TV geeks ever, Liz Lemon - and I wasn't disappointed. Actually that's an understatement, because Liz totally rocked my socks off when she revealed an iPhone!

I've never seen The Girlie Show's head writer with an iPhone before, so I totally appreciate the props decision for this season. Is this just the beginning of Liz's gadget love?

Baby Mama Reminds Me Everyone Loves Karaoke Revolution

I managed to sneak in a screening of Baby Mama this weekend and was reminded that Karaoke Revolution is a universal crowd pleaser. Without giving away any pivotal plot points of the movie I can reveal that Amy Poehler's character, the not-so-worldly Angie who Tina Fey's character Kate hires to carry her baby, spends ample time in Kate's apartment sharpening her Karaoke Revolution skills. The habit annoys Kate at first but eventually brings the two together when they join forces for a wicked "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" performance.

Tina Fey's character "masters" the game by singing in an awful voice, but completely on key. It's pure, painful karaoke entertainment at its best. According to the video game cheat code experts, you can master the game by singing the right songs. Apparently, "More Than a Feeling" gets you five platinum records for five songs, while "What Is Love" gets you 10 platinum records for 10 songs. I'm no cheater, but karaoke can get pretty competitive . . .

Vanity Fair's Funny Women Are Geeky Women

This month's Vanity Fair features a rad cover story on modern comediennes like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Sarah Silverman, and Kristin Wiig. The photo shoot, snapped by legend Annie Leibovitz, has a few concepts: Greek goddesses, Hollywood trainwrecks, and jet-setting hot chicks. What I really appreciated was the prolific use of gadgets as props - iPhones, Blackberries, and MacBook Pros abound!

I love the big wink to these multifaceted and talented ladies - of course they'd be carrying the hottest and latest tech tools (and look amazing doing it)! See if you can spot all the geeky props when you read more

Tina Fey Talks to Conan About Her Geek Monthly Appearance

Last week, I couldn't help but show off Tina Fey's organizational skils and discuss her extensive Star Wars knowledge. On a recent episode of "Late Night with Conan O'Brien", Tina talked about gracing the cover of Geek Monthly, while funny man Conan insisted he is the biggest geek and should have been the cover. When questioned about her 'geekiness,' Fey claimed that she had a collection of Star Wars figures as a kid and while other children were out on dates, she'd be at home taking care of all her action figures. She also confessed that her favorite Star Wars character was Princess Leia and that she's hoping to dress her daughter in a Princess Leia costume for Halloween this year-although it sounds like she isn't having much costume success! Tina Fey Shows Off Her Organizational Skills

In a recent print ad for American Express, Tina Fey was captured in true form with her daughter Alice Zenobia in what I'm assuming is her home office or the world's messiest set design! After spotting this ad on lifehacker, I'm starting to think that Fey may not be as geeky as we thought. With so many post-its, papers and notebooks, one can only assume that she hasn't made the leap into online organizing just yet. At least she's taking a step in the right direction with the MacBook, but someone needs to teach her how to make her life paperless! With new services like Twitter and Google Doc's she can surely swap those post-its for a clutter-free work space. Maybe I'm underestimating her geekiness, because in the latest issue of Geek Monthly, Jimmy Fallon confesses that Tina is in fact a 'geek.' "I think Tina is a geek superhero," says Fallon. She's very smart which I guess you can classify as a geek thing, and she doesn't have 20/20 vision, which also adds to it if we're gonna break it down. Everyone has their quirkiness and she embraces it, and that's what makes her cool." Fey goes on to admit her geek is "pretty deep. I will say the character I play on the show (Liz Lemon), she's a deeper geek, though. She has better Star Wars knowledge than I have by about 40 percent." Source

In fact, the darling starlet may be single-handedly responsible for bring geek chic back and making it perfectly acceptable for ladies to wear their thick rimmed glasses in public. She keeps smart sexy, but isn't afraid to boast her funny side.

It's Political: Sarah Palin Joins Twitter

It's happened: America's favorite Tina Fey character - Sarah Palin, former Republican Vice Presidential nominee - has joined Twitter.

With the handle AKGovSarahPalin, Palin jumped on the social phenomena the other day and has started posting things like Alaska's swine flu status and her staff being misquoted.

Interesting; she always seemed like the more tech-forward of the pair (having been spotted with her PC laptop on vacay) of her and her former running mate, John McCain, but the man who once said he didn't know how to use a computer has been on Twitter for months.

Geek Out: What Things Should Not Be Twittered?

We've seen what happens when you Twitter everything, and it's not attractive. But we all have different levels of what we're comfortable sharing, and some people are ready to (over) share a lot more than others. Erykah Badu, for instance, just had a baby. No, I didn't see a press release; she Twittered it.

While I follow some of my favorite Twitterers, like Dooce and Tina Fey (that's one of her more tame ones pictured there), simply because they have a habit of excellent TMI, I myself would never say just anything on Twitter. I keep it light, simple, and try not to turn anyone off their lunch.

And particularly since Twitter is big on accruing a ton of friends/followers that you often don't know personally, it's even more likely that I'll keep the personal stuff to myself.

Not that I'm anybody, but still, I wouldn't share anything I wouldn't want my mother to know. That's my rule - what's your rule for sharing stuff on Twitter or other places online?

In case you missed the big season premiere of Saturday Night Live this past weekend, you definitely have to check out out the brilliant Sarah Palin impersonation done by Tina Fey. Then you have to watch this skit which features SNL host Michael Phelps in a hilarious T-Mobile Fave 5 commercial. Too funny! I can't help but dare to ask. . . Who's in your Fave 5?
