iPhone Price Woes? Yuk It Up With the Soup!

Geek crush Joel McHale usually spends Friday nights on The Soup sending up ridiculous reality TV shows, but he made an exception this past Friday, a geeksugar holiday, to take aim at a newsworthy target: The iPhone 3G.

The show satirizes the rollercoaster pricing of the iPhone since its initial launch last July, and may give you a little comic relief if your wallet is the one part of you that doesn't appreciate your slavish gadget worship!

Geek Crush and Must-See TV: Chris Hardwick's Web Soup

As a huge fan of E!'s The Soup and its amazing host Joel McHale, I couldn't avoid the promos and initial episodes of Web Soup, a new show on G4 with a similar format. Except instead of showing clips from that week's TV, its clips are from that week's viral videos on the Internet.

Web Soup's equally crush-worthy host is Chris Hardwick, whom I always liked when he was on G4's Attack of the Show. Even though there are a lot of places to catch up with recent viral videos (such as yesterday's website of the day, Viral Video Chart), it's just easy to catch up on the latest cat or fail video when you can catch it on TV.

Though Hardwick hasn't quite guaranteed his place in my heart as much as McHale does, the easygoing and easy-on-the-eyes video jockey has guaranteed himself a place in my TiVo lineup. Have you caught Web Soup yet?

Another Web Clip Show to Love: Tosh.0

TV land has gotten the message that the new cultural currency is viral videos, and it's responding by taking them from the Internet and building TV shows around them.

Chris Hardwick got his show this Summer, Web Soup, and Comedy Central also debuted its new web clip show last month, my new addiction, Tosh.0.

Hosted by Daniel Tosh, Tosh.0 is pretty much the same format of Web Soup (themselves both borrowing from The Soup's format), but its comedian host is as hilarious as the clips he's showing. Plus, the web redemption feature (where viral "stars" like Miss Teen South Carolina get to right their wrongs on camera) keeps things more interesting than just introducing videos.

The Hills Girls Explain the Large Hadron Collider

It's a good thing I have The Soup to fill me in on things I missed from The Hills - without them, I would have missed this "Lost Scene" in which Audrina learns about the Large Hadron Collider. I guess I should have predicted her reaction, but it doesn't make it any less awesome.

Geek TV: Attack of the Show

Confession: My ideal weekday ends with unwinding with an episode of Attack of the Show! after work. Attack of the Show (on the G4 network - arguably the geekiest network on TV) is a recap show like The Soup, only it is all technology, gadgets, gaming, and the Internet.

Whatever the new viral video is, whatever the new gadget and game is, AOTS knows about it and covers it. Of course, a show like this is only as good as its hosts, and AOTS has that more than covered, too. The equally dreamy Kevin Pereira and Olivia Munn are more than just eye candy and gadget nerds - they have smarts and humor (and chemistry, too). The guy-and-girl combo is not only entertaining, but it doesn't polarize its audience by catering to males only (like many tech shows do) - I mean, they both had to ride the Hawaii Chair! Check it out every night at 7 and 10 p.m. (PST) on G4.
