I freelance (graphic design and multimedia), so my core work apps are: CS4, The Hit List (can't wait for the iPhone app to be released), Quicksilver, iCal, ChronoSync, Evernote, DevonThink
Pro, iRatchet, Suitcase Fusion, Flow, 1Password and iTunes (can't work without music) with a near-absolute dependency on MobileMe to sync everything up. Would really love to move away from
Cha-Ching for the moola management, though.
We do design-build contracting but I have a desk job, which I don't mind as much since my desk was graced with a gorgeous brand new iMac! Until now I'd been on the same eMac since 2003
haha... Day-to-day I generally rely on FileMaker, MultiLedger, Acrobat, system apps like Mail & iCal, Photoshop, eDrawings, and MS Office, plus Skype breaks to check in with my sis &
niece in MT
I use Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel, and Word every day. I also use Pidgin and a ton of proprietary software that the product technology team at my office created, and a lot of 3rd party tools.
And then, for fun, iTunes, Firefox and Google Talk.
We're one of those boring "The Office" offices. We use landlines. We mostly use Word for writing reports. We have a couple of web sites such as EON & InSite for data but they aren't
anything spectacular. And we're forbidden from doing anything online that isn't strictly for business and it's monitored closely.
I also am graphic designer and web designer -- my office only has PCs, but they have CS4, which rocks. I also use Audacity and I'll start using more web-designing stuff in the not-too-distant
future.
Wow! Ditto! Graphic designer! But it makes sense because we're on Geeksugar. We use Macs tricked out with all the latest Adobe software. I'm the the sysadmin and make all the purchasing
decisions.
I work from home freelance so it varies. It's always done on my PC or macbook since most of the tech is web-based. One company doesn't play nice with macs at all, so all that work is done on
the PC. Can't live without FF and excel. Rarely use word. When I'm being lazy, I use FrontPage but coding by hand in notepad++ is my preferred.
Software: Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe CS (Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash), Adobe Captivate and Photoshop and education specific programs like ClassXP and Integrade, PASCO, Interwrite,
Hardware: PCs, projectors, smart boards, pen tablets, personal response systems, PASCO probeware
These I use on a daily/weekly basis. There are even more programs that I use on an as needed basis. I'm always close to something with technology. It gets burdensome sometimes.
Lets see, since I am self-employed, Ubuntu & free source software if possible. Only a few apps: audio&videos, anything that only has Windows symbol on them. Opera(browser), anything
phone driven: microsoft mobile software, blackberry software, oh of course a few photo software: for cameras. (Nikon)
