Massive win for vintage geekery here! (Did I just call something from my childhood vintage? I think I did.) Check out these USB Game Controllers, only $25 from Urban Outfitters.

Each is a replica of the well-known Nintendo and Super Nintendo controller and plugs into any computer via USB for playing games. I was a huge SNES-junkie as a kid (Mario Kart, what?), so even looking at a photo of the controllers puts my nostalgia in overdrive - and I'm not even a computer game junkie. The only thing that could make these better is if I could use them to control movies or music volume!

I will always harbor a love and respect for my SNES - just thinking about it conjures up memories of all the heated childhood games of Super MarioKart I played with my sister. So I was totally stoked to see this SNES-inspired eyeglass case ($25) on Etsy. The soft felt cases come in sizes for eyeglasses and oversize sunglasses ($26). Each case is handmade, and features actual buttons sewn onto the front to resemble the controller's buttons. It's like a walk down memory lane, but serves a useful purpose at the same time.

Paul Rudd Puts The 'Super Geeky' in Super Nintendo Ad

Who knew that cutie patootie Paul Rudd's early career featured a painfully geeky gamer ad! This Super Nintendo advertisement from the early '90's was used to promote the popular entertainment system and old-school games like Zelda and Football. In this "action-packed" commercial, you see Rudd getting his game on in front of a JumboTron-like screen. Maybe not as entertaining as his role in Knocked Up, but priceless nonetheless!

Hold On to Your Tanooki Suits: Super Mario 3DS Making Appearance at E3

Ever since the Nintendo 3DS hit the streets, I've been itching for a new Mario game to play. Turns out, there's a brand new one on the horizon that will make its first appearance at E3 this June.

According to Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto, Super Mario 3DS (which will launch sometime this year) will be like a combination of Super Mario Galaxy and the N64 version of Super Mario, but it will be much easier to play thanks to the 3D nature of the portable console. "For example, the floors floating in space: in 2D it’s difficult to judge the distance, but in 3D it’s really easy." I'm so excited to get my hands on it. Look for more details to come!

Nintendo 3DS Goes Pink For Valentine's Day

Just in time for the most romantic holiday of the year, Nintendo announced the pearl pink 3DS hitting shelves on Feb. 10 for $170. If you've got a sweetheart with a gaming addiction, the 3DS provides the fun of the well-known DS gaming system with the extra added bonus of glasses-less 3D. Since amazing 3D games seem to be a little hard to come by, you might consider buying Super Mario 3D Land ($40) to go along with it.

PETA Tells Mario to Ditch the Fur

We may be excited for Super Mario 3D Land, but there's one group who certainly isn't. PETA, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, says that when Mario dons a Tanooki suit in the game, he's giving the green light to would-be fur wearers.

According to PETA: "Tanooki may be just a "suit" in Mario games, but in real life, tanuki are raccoon dogs who are skinned alive for their fur. By wearing Tanooki, Mario is sending the message that it's OK to wear fur."

Mario's use of Tanooki is nothing new. First introduced in 1988 in Super Mario Bros. 3, Mario used the Tanooki tail to fly and do spin attacks. Since tanukis hold a place in Japanese folklore associated with good fortune, it could be argued that Mario is simply harnessing the spirit of the animal.

PETA's campaign against Mario even includes a (warning) rather gruesome 8-bit online game called Super Tanooki Skin 2D that looks like a variation of the Super Mario Bros. game in which you chase Mario to reclaim Tanooki's fur.
