Cameron Diaz Goes Monochromatic For SoftBank Mobile

Japanese cell phone manufacturer SoftBank sure knows how to pick 'em! First with Brad Pitt in his action-packed sexy commercials, and now with Cameron Diaz working it in various print ads (she's already been featured in a few fun and flirty SoftBank commercials as well).

This flashy new ad is gracing the pages of Life & Style this week, and although I can't make out what model of phone it is, SoftBank sure does grab my attention! Rumor has it that Diaz was paid a whopping three million dollars for only six hours of work last year, so I can only imagine what she got for this shoot.

Softbank Cell Phones Come In 20 Pantone Colors

Tired of monochrome cell phones that choose business over pleasure? If you live in Japan, you're in luck. Softbank has released a simple and sleek cell phone line (it looks like a slightly chunky RAZR) that showcases 20 of our favorite Pantone colors - from Pearl Pink, Mint Green, Beige, Gold to Metal Blue. The line is part of a popular "Tokyo Girls Collection," and seems to bank on the fact that most women like matchy-matchy outfits and bright colors. The Pantone revival seems to have started a few weeks ago with the release of Pantone mugs, so these phones are right on target.

The phone features Bluetooth, a 2-megapixel camera, "PC Site Browser," a button face featuring raised arc-ridge keys and a mobile ASV LCD for high-contrast images. The sub-display is capable of up to three lines of text, allowing quick confirmation of newly arrived email. No word on the costs, but for now US fans are out of luck anyway. And I could really use a dose of Vivid Pink.

Brad Pitt Graces the Cover of Wired, Talks a Ton of Tech

Coming to newsstands on July 21, the latest issue of Wired magazine heats things up this Summer with heartthrob Brad Pitt on the cover. While Angelina Jolie has admitted her lack of tech-expertise by saying she doesn't even know how to turn on a computer, Brad proves he's an Internet whiz when asked about Twitter and online dating.

When questioned about the taboo topic of talking on the phone in the loo he says:

No, you can't talk on the phone! Do you want the guy next to you to hear your entire conversation? That's why you should only text in the bathroom. Just be sure you don't hit the wrong button and end up putting a photo of your junk on Twitter. Trust me, you don't want those followers.

Considering he's one of the faces of Softbank cell phones, it's good to know he's a phone-etiquette pro. And although he doesn't have an active Twitter account as of yet, his knowledge of tech trends keeps us very hopeful!

Ashton Kutcher Is Playing It Cool For Coolpix Cameras

I swear celebrities get all the fun tech gigs. This week alone we've gotten to see Cameron Diaz showing off the goods for SoftBank Mobile, and now Ashton Kutcher strutting his stuff in TV ads promoting Nikon CoolPix cameras. Launched on Tuesday nationwide was the latest Nikon commercial with Kutcher getting his "raisin-colored" S550 CoolPix passed around by a slew of beautiful women - odd much?! Scroll down to see what Ashton has to say about his partnership with Nikon.

Cells And Cash Offered In Exchange For Parenthood

Apparently, Japan is faced with a rapidly aging and shrinking population right now and in an effort to combat the alarming rates, employers are offering workers "baby bonuses" in the form of cash and cell phones.

According to reports, the government and corporate sector are making wild efforts to increase Japan’s declining birth-rate by offering cash, free services and electronics to encourage people to have children. Canon, Sharp and Panasonic have reportedly started handing out financial aid for working mothers and cover costs for fertility treatments and Telecom firm Softbank is also giving cash bonuses and free cell phones (call costs included), among other electronics. It lures employees by saying it’s "the most family-friendly company around."

I refuse to believe anyone would choose to have a child because they were given a small bonus, or $200 cell phone, but the bribes point to an extreme effort by both the government and private companies. I wonder if they will upgrade to giving away iPhones?
