AT&T Approves SlingPlayer App to Be Streamed Over 3G

But earlier today, AT&T approved the Sling app to operate over its 3G network, meaning you can watch your favorite shows, control your Slingbox, and set recordings from virtually anywhere. New iPhone Slingbox Apps Won't Work With Older Players

With word that I'll soon be able to connect to my Slingbox via my iPhone, I feel like I'll have the world in the palm of my hand. I mean, first TiVo apps, then Netflix and now Slingbox? I'll be a one stop media shop. Then reality hit in the form of a news release: the older (read: my) Slingbox models (including the Slingbox AV, and Tuner) won't be compatible with the new technology that comes along with the iPhone Sling app.

Not all hope is lost though. Sling is offering a $50 rebate for you to upgrade from your old box to one of the new models including the Slingbox Pro, Slingbox Pro-HD, or Slingbox Solo, which will easily and happily connect to your Slingbox iPhone apps. So soon, you can set, record, and watch your TV shows from anywhere, even on your iPhone. Awesome.

SlingPlayer on the BlackBerry to Be Showcased at CES

After hearing a few months back that SlingPlayer Mobile was working with RIM to develop a BlackBerry, I have been anxiously awaiting a release date.

Sling Media has finally confirmed that they will be releasing SlingPlayer Mobile for BlackBerry later this year. They have also announced that they will be unveiling their software running on a BlackBerry Pearl 8120 during CES next week.

Wondering why this is such a big deal? Just like Slingmedia from your laptop, with the SlingPlayer Mobile software, you'll be able to watch your home TV on a number of mobile phone platforms including Windows Mobile, Palm OS, and Symbian OS. And it won't require a monthly fee or other recurring charges, you'll just need to purchase a SlingPlayer Mobile for a one-time charge of $29.99. How great is that?!

He was convinced you had cooties and gave you noogies until your head nearly caved in, but it didn't take him long to become your vigilante and decide who was date-worthy or not. SlingPlayer Mobile to Work on the BlackBerry

I already knew that the Slingbox streaming device was beyond amazing, but after I caught my co-workers watching Oprah three hours before it airs on this side of the U.S, I instantly became hooked.

Now you can not only control your home TV with Slingmedia from your laptop, but you can do it with your cell phone as well. According to Engadget, the makers of SlingPlayer Mobile are working with RIM to develop a BlackBerry friendly version - so we can watch The Hills from anywhere at anytime via our phones.

I'm thinking that my Pearl's teeny weeny screen may be hard to watch shows on, but then again, who cares if you can watch your taped shows on your phone!

Oh, and by the way, if you're wondering how my co-workers had access to Oprah before the rest of us, it was because he was connected to a Slingbox in NYC - gotta love technology!

PC users have known the joy that is Slingbox for some time now, but now eager Mac enthusiasts, including Miss Hilary Duff, can get their Slingbox fix served up to their computers on the daily. Slingbox, is a nifty device that can turn the internet-connected computer or mobile device into your home television. Meaning you can record your favorite shows and watch TV virtually anywhere. It's a real hit with frequent travelers, celebrities and, well geeks, and the kicker is, it's not crazy expensive or complicated.

While some of us are still stationary TiVo and DVR junkies, many uber geeks have moved on to Sling Media's SlingPlayer, which is a software application that connects you to your Slingbox and allows remote control of the video source device. It's been a hit with PC users for some time now, but with the release of the SlingPlayer for Mac, Version 1.0 it can now be enjoyed on Macintosh-based systems.
