Sean Parker: "End of Year" US Launch For Spotify?

Spotify may be one of the most awesome music apps out there and has a huge potential to blow up here in the US, but we're still waiting on its arrival from the UK. Napster cofounder and Spotify investor Sean Parker took the stage during The Daily Beast's Innovators Summit in New Orleans earlier today and predicted that Spotify would hit US shores by the end of the year.

Of course, we've heard this "end of the year" prediction before, but that's no reason not to get excited for a potential holiday arrival. Spotify will give users access to millions of songs for free and allow you to send and share tracks and playlists among your friends. Imagine what will become of your holiday playlists this year! Oh, the possibilities.

The big TechCrunch50 Conference kicked off yesterday at the San Francisco Design Center Concourse, with the best new tech startups launching their companies in front of the public - yes Ashton and Demi were there! And to celebrate the day one festivities was the big MySpace party last night at Mezzanine. I not only got to chat with Sean Parker, the cofounder of Napster, and TechCrunch founder Michael Arrington - who said this year's turnout was much better than last year's - but I was able to catch up with the famous Samantha Ronson, who was DJing at the event, and ask her some geeky questions!

BlackBerry or iPhone Owner? "I actually have both."
Are you a Mac or PC Fan? "Mac all the way. PCs are just hard to figure out and not user friendly whatsoever."
What software do use on your laptop for spinning tunes? "Sonar by Cakewalk."

How to Throw a Social Network-Themed Oscar Party

Want to throw an Oscar soiree this weekend? As we inch closer to the show on Sunday, we'll be featuring different ideas for your viewing party planning, using the best picture nominees as inspiration. First up: The Social Network.

Your Facebook-loving friends will obviously get a kick out of seeing you pay tribute to the award season front-runner, but if you're wondering how to start, try out these ideas. Then don't forget to download your own Oscar ballot to pass around to your guests! You can also fill out our online ballot for the chance to win a Samsung HDTV.

Who to invite: Start a Facebook group to announce the evening's festivities and invite your Facebook friends - all 520 of them.
Dress code: No need to break out your Oscar best for this shindig. Make like Mark Zuckerberg and have everyone don their oldest sweatshirt with sweatpants or jeans and some Adidas flip-flops. Bathrobes over pajamas are equally OK.
Table setting: Make the table look like a workspace area, and get creative! You can serve candy in your office organizers where you normally store paper clips and pencils, and label each seat with a personal business card. You can even take Zuckerberg's own card slogan "I'm CEO, bitch" and swap in each guest's name.

The Social Network is out this Friday, and the buzz is loud on this one. Not only does the movie look intense and dramatic, but it revolves around the creation of Facebook, a website many of us spend much of our time on.
