You've probably noticed the ads for the new Flip Video camera across the The Sugar Network recently. To thank Pure Digital Technologies for their sponsorship, I thought I would take a minute to remind you that the beginning of summer means juggling BBQs, graduations and family functions every weekend. If you're like me and slightly tired of taking digital pictures that don't exhibit the laughter and fun your family has together, or those first steps your niece is about to take, the Flip Video camera is the perfect device to capture the more lively summer moments.

You may have noticed the ads for the new Flip Video camera across the The Sugar Network recently. I wanted to take this opportunity to remind you just how fabulous this camera is.
It's gotten a lot of press for being sleek, easy to use and fitting right into your purse or diaper bag, but I fell in love with it because it's just plain simple to use.

After falling in love with the user-friendly Pure Flip video camera, I was happy to learn that Pure Digital Technologies has just come out with the new and improved camcorder called the Flip Video Ultra Series. The ultra series, pocket-size cam comes in five chic colors including lime green, pink, orange, black and the traditional white and includes built-in software for direct uploading to AOL and YouTube. What's especially great about this camera, and Pure video cameras in general, is their ability to capture high-quality sound and video which can easily be edited and shared no matter where you are.

Starting today, Pure Digital Technologies will be launching a one million Flip Video Camcorder giveaway to benefit nonprofits worldwide. The Flip Video Spotlight program came about when former President Bill Clinton approached Pure Digital, requesting that video be used to shed light on world issues that need to be addressed. With a million pocket-sized camcorders that have built-in software for direct uploading to YouTube, the possibilities are endless for what can be achieved with this initiative.

The queen of cell phones, Miss Paris Hilton, sure does know her way around a BlackBerry keypad, but who knew she was so intrigued in other gadgetry goods? While at the Sundance Film Festival, Paris chatted with Virgin America's director of in-flight entertainment and partnerships, Charles Ogilvie, about the new in-flight, seat-to-seat instant messaging keyboard. She told Ogilvie that she can't wait to try out the new high-tech entertainment system on an upcoming trip to New York and on the airline’s debut of in-flight WiFi, which will happen sometime this year.Paris was also spotted at a Philadelphia mall a week later promoting her new movie Hottie and the Nottie and showing off her photo skills with a Flip digital camcorder.

After the success of the Zi6 pocket recorder, Kodak has decided to improve their line-up of camcorders by introducing the Zi8, which can easily be compared to Pure Digital's latest — the Flip Ultra HD. Available in red, black, and blue for only $180, the Zi8 offers 1080p recording, a 2.5-inch LCD display, a SD card slot, Facebook functionality, and can capture 5-megapixel stills. Kodak even announced that it'll be able to capture video in low-lighting conditions, something the Flip hasn't been able to do.

To help capture some Memorial Day weekend festivities, I took the latest camcorder from Pure Digital Technologies — the Flip UltraHD — out for a test drive. Since the first Flip was announced in 2006, these simple-yet-sophisticated cams have not only been the video camera of choice among celebrities, but the general public has fallen in love with them as well (with sales skyrocketing after Oprah sang its praises).
Why is the UltraHD getting so much attention?
