The Prada phone by LG is one of the most desired designer phones of 2007, touting a sleek black casing, touchscreen, pre-loaded content, mobile phone accessories and an exclusive leather case for about $780 (yes, that's more than the iPhone). Apparently, all the glam wasn't enough for the people over at Amosu, who have dipped the Prada Phone in 24-karat gold. The phone is listed for £499 or about $989.70.

In a recent article Forbes writer Daniel Lyons points out that there is no logical reason to spend $780 on the Prada phone by LG. A point I wholeheartedly agree with, except for the phone is so darn pretty. The thing is, and Lyons does acknowledge this, there is common sense and then there's fashion sense.

LG Electronics recently teamed up with the always chic Prada to develop "an innovative and iconic mobile phone" that has been the talk of the tech world for months. Finally, someone has gotten their hands on it and proven that yes, it does in fact exist. The UK's T3 gets up close and personal with the LG Prada Phone in this video and I was pleased to see the phone is just ask sleek as it was rumored to be.

For the past few months, everyone has been talking about the new Prada cell phone, and while there has been much speculation as to what the phone will look like, no one really knew until this week...or at least we think this is what it will look like. Korea's Aving.net has posted a photo of what looks to be the new model.
As we previously reported, LG claims the joint effort focused on the key elements inside the phone, such as software, user interface and music as well as its look, for example design and packaging.

For all the iPhone hype the device may be falling behind the too-hot-to-trot Prada phone. Word is, the Prada phone by LG has sold over 300,000 units since its launch in March, while earlier this week AT&T announced it has only activated 146,000 iPhones. (Apple released its third quarter results yesterday, but that quarter ended three days after the iPhone release so there are no telling figures).

The new and improved Prada phone by LG was recently unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. Unlike the previous Prada handset, this new model is entirely silver, with a silver-user interface, earphones, and packaging to match. It also includes a slick, new qwerty keyboard on its touchscreen.

Fab may have been checking out the hot messenger bag by La Rue that Andy carries in The Devil Wears Prada, but my eyes were locked on the Sidekicks that seemed to sneak into every single street scene in the movie. In fact, I even noticed a movie goof: At the end of the movie when Miranda, played by Meryl Streep, calls Andy, played by Anne Hathaway, in Paris, Andy looks at her T-mobile Sidekick and it's ringing. The phone shows Miranda's name and under it, it says, "Connecting."
