Pineapple Express both feature main characters convinced that they are being tracked and monitored by the police or some government agency. In some cases it's true and in others it's just drug-induced paranoia, but the fear certainly isn't limited to fiction.
I have a friend that is certain that Fastrak, a company that created an electronic toll collection system for Bay Area bridges, is in cahoots with the police and monitors drivers' activity and whereabouts.

its not like im on the run or anything, its just it is creepy that they can do that.
1i agree its weird, but i havent done anything wrong, and my life is boring.. if verizon wants to know that im in my living room, go for it.
2It is a little creepy but it's not like I'm running around committing crimes or something.
3I don't worry about it. It's horrible if they do track it, but I don't have anything to worry about.
4Yes, it's creepy that they have the ability to track me. However, in the instance that I'm kidnapped or something happens to me that I need to be tracked - glad to know it exists.

6I am not very interested to be tracked.
7Funny, I spend all this time loopt'ing on my iPhone trying to let people know where I am and some are scared of the same technology. I do see how it could be used for evil though.
8totally. that's exactly why i don't twitter or take my phone with me every where. and i don't have gps in my car. maps still work!!!!!! call me a conspiracy theorist but mostly i'm just trying to beat the man.
9LOL Macgirl... I actually use my iPhone so people CAN tell where I am.
I think The Man has better things to do than check in on me. I'm pretty harmless. Plus if I'm ever being robbed or in a fire or whatever, it's actually kind of good to know that they can triangulate and figger out where I am to help me.
10Forget the FBI and the Department of Justice - Veronica Mars might be tracking you! Especially if you you're in a relationship with her...
But seriously, ever since I saw V Mars plant tracking devices in people's phone's, I've wanted the technology to do that. Not so much for deviant purposes, but just for informative ones, like say, knowing where my family members are. It's kind of like that clock that the Weasleys have... lol.
