New Lime Green DS Lite Gaming Bundle From Nintendo

It's always the way. As soon as I think Nintendo has outdone themselves with another great DS bundle, they come out with something even better to make us drool and wish we had that color instead. For instance, how hot was the gold DS and then the fire engine red and powder blue DS Lite bundles? Irresistible! But I think their latest takes the cake - a lime green DS Lite bundle which comes with a tropical chic case and the Personal Trainer: Cooking video game. Just in time for Spring and Mother's Day, these new bundles will be available in retail stores on May 3.

Lisa Kudrow Uses Personal Trainer: Cooking on Her DS

I've already had the chance to see Personal Trainer: Cooking in action, so I know just how convenient and handy it can be for novice chefs like myself. In an upcoming commercial for Nintendo, Lisa Kudrow uses Personal Trainer: Cooking to show her niece how to make Kung Pao chicken. Thanks to the software's voice activated instructions, you can easily move through the instructions without having to touch anything, as you'll see Lisa utilizing in the video below.

Personal Trainer: Cooking Coming to the Nintendo DS!

The first title in Nintendo's Personal Trainer series for the Nintendo DS, Personal Trainer: Cooking, makes whipping up recipes fun and easy! I had the chance to check it out last week in action and I must admit, I'm an avid cook, but with Personal Trainer: Cooking, it's like having your very own personal chef with you in the kitchen! Acting as an interactive cookbook, with this game you can access over 240 recipes from around the world and a private cooking instructor will provide video demonstrations and talk you through any recipe you choose.

As you browse recipes (by ingredients, calorie count, cooking time, difficulty, etc), all you have to do is tap a box to mark ingredients you need to buy and your DS will automatically store them in your in-game shopping list for later. And if your hands get covered with dough or other ingredients, you can use the voice command to continue the steps! This game will be hitting store shelves November 24, although there's no word on pricing just yet. Stay tuned for more titles in this series!

How a Workout Buddy Increases Your Calorie Burn

Hanging out with like-minded friends is the best way to keep on your healthy path. These pals offer emotional support, share cooking tips, and even make great workout buddies. Sweating it out with someone else helps you burn more calories - here's how:

They Make You Accountable
When you're planning to go for a solo run early in the morning, it's easy to hit the snooze button and skip out. It's not so easy if you know your sneaker-wearing buddy will be at your front door in 15 minutes. A fitness buddy will help you stick to a regular weekly fitness routine, and more workouts per week equal more calories burned.

Longer Workouts
Chatting away on a hike makes you forget you're even exercising. When working out solo, you might look at the clock every few minutes to calculate how much time you have left, but when you're having such a good time catching up, you forget about the time. That usually means you'll be more inclined to work out longer than you would on your own. Longer workouts translate into more burned calories.

Keep reading to find out more ways an exercise buddy helps you burn extra calories.

An OnSugar Blog Gets Real About Weight Gain

Weight loss is no easy journey, and the following story told by the OnSugar blog, Lynsanity: Healthy Recipes Even He Will Eat is one that many of us may find familiar. This is her first blog post, so let's welcome her to the community!

I have always been on a diet. ALWAYS. I was quite plump at a young age and my mother put me on one. In fifth grade my favorite after school activity was Tae-Bo, and in high school Xenedrine still had phen-phen in it and was $18.99 at Longs. Up until high school, I am pretty sure I was around the same size since eight grade - I could wear the same jeans from freshman through senior year- and no matter how extreme my diet or workout routine became, my weight always juggled 5-10lbs.

Then college came - hello 10 lbs! Then work came, no one prepares you for 8hr+ days and what a toll that takes on your body! (I mean, yes, there are long classes in school, but after five hours you get up and walk half a mile to the next one!) Then I moved: the emotional strain (good and bad); the physical exhaustion of looking for a new place, making new friends, and finding your new favorite watering hole. When I moved to San Francisco last April, I lost 12lbs instantly, walking everywhere, running around, stressing about little things. And after about a month I gained it all back plus some . . . blah blah story of my life. Then I got the boyfriend - hello comfort weight! Well, finally I woke up one morning and thought . . . nope, not any more.

Read the rest of 2-4-1's story after the break!

Niki Taylor on Personal Style, Modeling, and the Most Important Thing You Can Do

Niki Taylor landed her first cover - on Seventeen, when she was just 14. For much of the '90s, Niki Taylor was always in a magazine, from Vogue to Sports Illustrated. However, she endured personal tragedy when her sister Krissy died suddenly in 1995 at the age of 17, and in 2001 Niki was in a severe car accident that left the supermodel in a coma for six weeks. If you didn't know, yesterday was World Blood Donor Day, but Niki Taylor would be the first to tell you that everyday should be blood donor day. Today, the mother of three, who is pregnant with her fourth child, talks about her supermodel years, her personal style, and why you should sport a zebra print bandage.

FabSugar: What were some of your favorite experiences in modeling?
Niki Taylor: I have gotten to travel all over the world and meet so many wonderful and interesting people. I think what has been most powerful for me though, is that modeling and being in the public eye has allowed me to give back through initiatives like the Nexcare give program with the American Red Cross.
FS: Why blood?
NT: After receiving 100 units of donor blood after a life-threatening car accident in 2001, the importance of donating blood became so real and so significant for me. This year, Nexcare is handing out free give bandages, and they are extra chic with fashion-inspired designs that show how helping save a life is always in style. As a supporter of blood donation and a lover of fashion, I think the bandages are a perfect way to encourage people to get out there and donate.

To see some of Niki's memorial editorials, real-life style and more from our interview, read more.

How Your Thoughts Can Lead to Weight Gain

Your mind is a powerful tool that can make or break your quest to slim down, and the combination of a positive attitude and realistic goals goes a long way when it comes to reaching your goals. Avoid these sabotaging thoughts that often lead to weight gain.

"I just got married so to heck with dieting and exercise. It's time to celebrate!"
You worked hard in the months leading up to the big day and it showed when you walked down the aisle. But saying your vows and slipping on that wedding band shouldn't give you the green light to throw all your hard work out the window. Definitely take time to celebrate, but don't overdo it. Keep up with your exercise routine and healthy diet so you can continue to look and feel good in your amazing body.

"I worked out this morning so I can eat whatever I want."
A typical 30-minute workout burns about 300 calories, so you do the math. Does that mean you can eat two slices of pizza, a bag of potato chips, a cupcake from a co-worker's birthday, and a huge burrito? In order to lose a pound a week, you need to cut out or burn a total of 500 calories a day. If you splurge at night just because you hit the gym in the morning, the numbers on the scale will end up rising.

"That girl over there is eating a sundae, and she looks skinny, so I can have one too."
Unfortunately, there are people who can eat whatever they want and never gain a pound. If you know in your heart you're not one of those people, don't try to convince yourself that you are.

"I'll always have a weight problem, so I'm not even going to try to lose weight."
You can't give up before trying! If you've always struggled with your weight, figure out how to stop the cycle. Whether you need to meet with your doctor, join a weight loss program, hire a personal trainer, or take cooking lessons, making that first positive change toward your journey to a healthier and more fit you is the hardest part.

What other thoughts do you have that get in the way of reaching your weight loss goals?

Today's Duh News: Study Finds Having Kids Causes Weight Gain

The headline "Having Kids Might Make Young Women Heavier, Less Fit" is far from groundbreaking, and in fact, it leaves me scratching my head at how these results are making headlines in the first place.

With the weight gain of pregnancy, sleepless nights with a crying baby, stressful schedules devoted to extracurricular activities over gym time, fast food pit stops for picky-eating kids, and less money and time for healthy home-cooked meals, is anyone really surprised that parents of young children are less healthy than adults without kids? I doubt it. I guess it's possible some people are shocked by this "news" with all the superhuman celebrities who <strike>magically</strike> drastically drop the baby weight weeks after childbirth, forgetting that many women without personal trainers, dietitians, and nannies may not rebound as quickly (or ever) to their prebaby weight.

We love looking at love, sex, and relationship studies to gain insight into the how and why of what we do, but maybe these latest findings have tipped me over into a state of study-fatigue. What's the dumbest study you've ever come across?
