Pandora Comes to the BlackBerry!

This is a nice surprise to say the least. Pandora has just rolled out a mobile app for the BlackBerry, which means BB users will now be able to uses Pandora's amazing (and free) streaming radio service.

Unfortunately, Pandora for Blackberry is currently only available on BlackBerry Bold, Curve, and Pearl devices. And users must be customers of either AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon networks. Which means if you're a T-Mobile customer, you're going to have to sit tight and see if they add it to the list. Wondering how you get started? Picking Up a Blu-Ray Player? Consider the Samsung BD-P2550

Although I already have my Blu-Ray player squared away, I'm kinda excited about this Samsung high-def model instead. What sets the Samsung BD-P2550 aside from others is its features. Not only does it have HDMI, 1080p, 7.1 analog audio outputs, along with Dolby TrueHD decoding capabilities (which translates to amazing video and audio quality), but you can also stream Netflix On Demand movies and Pandora Internet radio right from the player.

Yeah, you can stream Pandora from your Blu-Ray player. Crazy, right? So if you assumed there would be an extra-special price tag to go along with all this "flair," you would be absolutely right. The Samsung BD-P2550 clocks in at $349 from Best Buy (and goes as high as $489 from Amazon), but I'm totally adding this to my Price Protectr list just in case.

Do You Listen to Internet Radio?

I have a lot of friends who are distraught about the news that Pandora may be going under due to overwhelming royalty fees. The popular Internet radio service doesn't just stream music online, but becomes attuned to your listening habits and creates customized stations for you. I love Pandora for an alternative to my own music library, so I'd be disappointed to see it disappear however many imitators there may be.

But Pandora's not my only Internet music service that I enjoy; I have a few stations that I'm partial to when my play list doesn't cut it anymore. Never mind whether you still listen to old-school AM/FM radio anymore - do you listen to Internet radio?

I know there are a ton of you out there that are fans of Internet radio, especially Pandora. How awesome has it been to discover new artists, and listen to your all-time faves while you're at the office, surfing the web, or finishing up those term papers right from your computer. I've been a big fan of Pandora for a while now, and if it's possible, it just got better.

Now you can download your own desktop Pandora icon that lives on your Windows desktop, or your Mac's dock . . . removing that step of opening a web browser to listen to your streamed tunes. I know what you're thinking, "Big whoop, so I open another tab or window. I'm already online anyway." But the new desktop feature makes it that much easier to get down with one click, preventing you from accidentally closing your Pandora allocated window. Plus, it cuts down the amount of memory your browser uses while Pandora is running (which means faster surfing). All it takes is a quick Adobe Air download and you're off and running. Or at least shimmying in your office chair!

Google Search Now Displays Audio Tracks For Song Queries

Ever since my first Google search, life as I knew it changed forever. Google is really revving up their search engine thanks to small but helpful enhancements like being able to find your friends on social networking sites or by refining your search results by date and time.

And now that Google has teamed up with companies like imeem, Pandora, Lala, Sony Music, EMI, and WB, they are now able to deliver a new music search feature that makes it easy to discover music and listen to the track from one of these partner companies.

Even if you don't know the artist or the song name, you can type in some lyrics, and Google web search will do its best to search songs that have those particular words. If you try your own Google music search and the audio tracks don't appear, be patient because Google is slowly rolling out the feature across the US over the next day. Although if you do want to take it for a test drive, you can do so here.

The Pandora Alcantara Player Makes CDs Look Hot Again

First of all, keep in mind that this CD player is only a concept design project and secondly, try to disregard the "Playboy Bunny" logo on the CD (not apart of the player). Antoine Lebrun and Volkan Akbiyi have created the Pandora Alcantara, a wall-mounted CD player that includes tilt-sensing technologies. The name Alcantara comes from the luxurious suede material that covers the media player.
Discussed on Yanko Design, the best part about this sleek-looking player is the remote, which includes a tilt-sensing bar and a touchscreen. I still have the odd CD lying around, so maybe if this design comes to fruition, I'll need to further explore!

Website of the Day: Gnoosic

I know there're plenty of ways for you to discover new music online - from Pandora to my new fave, CitySounds - but I'm about to add another to your bag of tricks. Called Gnoosic, this website asks you point blank what bands or artists you like, works its analyzing magic, then spits out a list of recommended artists you might fancy.

Sure, it doesn't have a fancy interface like Pandora, but it's smart - it's a self-adapting system that has compiled thousands of band names from users, then learned what people like and don't like based on its rating system. Plus, it's free and won't ask for any registration to use, so I don't know why you wouldn't give it a shot. Your ears will thank you.
