Geek Art! 8-Bitscapes Photo and Illustration Collaboration

What do you get when you take gorgeous landscape photographs and insert your favorite 8-bit details? 8-bitscapes, a collection of 8-bit inspired prints. The collaboration between photographer Kevin Rozario-Johnson and illustrator Jamie Sneddon is comprised of eight "strictly limited-edition" prints, with retro gaming characters making their way through some familiar and not-so-familiar landscapes.

The collection will be first displayed at an exhibit in London before prints are sold. No word on pricing yet, but given the "strictly limited-edition" nature of these prints, I'm sure they'll cost you. At the least, they are incredibly stunning. Check out my five favorites below.

Turn Your City Into a Giant Pac-Man Game With PacMap For Android

Pac-Man has been around for years and years, but I manage to be pleasantly delighted each time a quirky new Pac-Man-themed product or service hits the market. Remember Google's Pac-Man logo that may have wasted nearly 5 million hours of workday productivity? Or the set of amazingly decorated Pac-Man cupcakes? Now I'm similarly enamored with PacMap, a new Android app that allows you to explore your city as Pac-Man.

Your city streets are turned into Pac-Man grids and are filled with power pellets and, of course, ghosts. Check out a video of the fun app after the break.

Google's Pac-Man Logo May Have Wasted 4.8 Million Hours

The amazing, addictive Pac-Man Google logo that graced the Google homepage last week may have caused 4.8 million hours of lost productivity, according to a study. The average play time for one game of Google Pac-Man (and, honestly, who played it just once?) was 36 seconds. The research firm that conducted the study says that amounts to $120,483,800, or the amount you'd pay every single Google employee (including its cofounders and CEO) for six weeks of work.

Additionally, companies and agencies with policies prohibiting game play at work had to figure out how to disable the Google homepage for the day - which I can only imagine made Internet searches all the more difficult. When it comes down to it, 30 or so seconds in one day doesn't seem like much to me . . . but it doesn't account for many of my own Facebook and Twitter friends who proudly posted about their immediate addiction to the game. Procrastinators, don't forget: the game will live on indefinitely at google.com/pacman.

Eat the Heat With This Pacman Oven Mitt

Just typing the phrase "Pacman oven mitt" makes me giggle, but how cute is this?

The Pacman Oven Mitt ($18) is made of 100 percent bright yellow silicone and fits completely over your hand to avoid any unfortunate oven mishaps. It resists temperatures of up to 450 degrees and is apparently freezer safe, should you decide to store your oven mitt in the freezer. Check out the maze detail inside his mouth, which is not only cute but provides a good grip on hot pots and pans right out of the oven.

I'm in Love With This Pacman Necklace

Attention anyone looking to fill my stocking this holiday: this necklace is one of the cutest I've seen! The Arcade Parade Necklace ($45) features one of my favorite arcade game characters, Pacman, being chased by ghosts Blinky, Pinky, and Inky. The necklace is made from brass, so its sheen will age naturally over time, and it comes with a canvas pouch for safekeeping.

Pacman was one of the first video games I remember playing, and my favorite college pizza joint had a Ms. Pacman arcade game, so this piece of geeky jewelry is already close to my heart.

OK, so my boyfriend may let me get away with splurging on a Desktop Pacman Arcade someday, and will quietly put up with my wearing a Pacman hoodie on movie date night (which you guys think is geek chic, thank you very much), but I think my Pacman obsession may have to end with the Motorized Pacman Plushies ($25-30), which could be a little too weird for me to throw down for.

These eight-inch tall motorized Pacman plushies come straight out of the console, and make themselves at home in your apartment. Since they're battery operated, you just turn them on and let them munch their way around, which will probably scare the bejesus out of your cat. Freaky? Kinda. It's like a bad Pacman nightmare coming to life.

Make a Boo Boo Cool With Pacman Bandages

Pac-Man updated to drinking age! These handmade Pac-Man Wine Charms use characters from the vintage arcade game to make markers for wine glass stems, which is mucho helpful during a party.

For $12 you get a set of six of these charms, and the ultimate compromise in growing up (or, well, growing older). Old vice, meet new vice.

Do You See What I See? It's a Designer Pac Man Dress!

I had learned from Fab that fashion designer Giles Deacon had incorporated some intense geeky Pac Man headgear during his London Fashion Week runway show, but I had no idea that such a dress like this existed - stop the presses!

After my run in with the Space Invaders dress at the FCUK store, it became apparent to me that video game graphics on sexy designer dresses wasn't that taboo, and that it was actually kinda sexy.

This sparkly couture Pac Man dress features the key elements from the popular arcade video game, including the ghosts and Pac Man himself. Now get some cherries on there, and this geek would have to add one to her ever-growing wish list!
