HP Keeps the Netbook Train Moving With Two New Minis

Computers are totally fashionable, folks. Vivienne Tam impressed us all with her chic new HP digital clutch design at this year's Fashion Week, but HP couldn't get enough and debuted two more sleek and stylish Minis this week for you to drool over.

The HP Mini 110 (due out Sept. 23) has had a makeover by artist and designer Tord Boontje, and comes with 15 custom wallpapers, screensavers, and desktop themes all designed by Tord himself, while the Mini 311 ($329) has the classic swirls from the 10-inch Mini 1000 we all know and love, but in crisp, snowy white. The 311 got a screen and graphics boost as well, coming in with a HD 11.6 inch display and an upgraded NVIDIA ION graphics card.

Vivienne Tam and HP Collaborate on a Netbook Once Again

Vivienne Tam is starting a trend, and it goes beyond her amazing fashion designs. At last year's Fashion Week, Vivienne Tam unveiled a designer HP Mini 1000 that I instantly fell in love with, and at this weekend's Spring 2010 show, she did it again.

The newest designer netbook clutch comes in a feminine gold and butterfly finish, inspired by the Chinese story of the "Butterfly Lovers", which is a beautiful tale of freedom, romance and inspiration. Here's what she had to say about her new clutch and clothing collection:

"I’m excited to partner with HP again on a new design that truly embodies my inspiration for the new spring collection. When women around the globe carry HP’s digital clutch and wear my clothes, I want them to feel beautiful and confident."

As with other fashionable tech finds we've seen this week, there have been no pricing details released for Vivienne's netbook clutch, but we should expect to see it in stores next Spring.

Nokia Introduces Its Own Netbook, the Booklet 3G

Welcome the latest netbook to the fold: the Nokia Booklet 3G.

The cell phone maker is dropping its offering to the market with the Booklet, (which they're calling a mini laptop), which has a 10.1-inch display, 2.7 lb aluminum body, integrated 3G wireless, 12-hour battery life, Bluetooth/WiFi connectivity, and Windows 7.

This is a strong addition to the netbook game - and it doesn't look too shabby either, with its option of black, blue, or silver exterior. Stay tuned for pricing and release dates.

Hannspree Debuts the HannsNote Netbook

You know Hannspree, the maker of those adorable TVs for kids? Well the company has decided to dip into the Netbook market with the launch of the 10-inch LED-backlit LCD HannsNote. Said to be priced at $379, this little book will come in black-or-white and feature a 1.3-megapixel webcam, 1GB of RAM and Windows XP. One can only hope that they whip up some of these in their kid-friendly animal designs! Elephant netbook anyone?

Dell and Nickelodeon Team Up to Create a Kid-Friendly Netbook

Ah, kids these days. . . when they're not gabbing away on their cell phones, they've got their faces glued to the screens of portable gaming devices.

Well Dell is next in line to target younger audiences by working closely with Nickelodeon to create a 10.1-inch mini Inspiron netbook. The laptop, which is covered in the signature-green slime design by iCarly, comes fully loaded with entertaining and educational content and a Nickelodeon-branded desktop wallpaper and icons.

The price of this three-pound netbook hasn't been announced as of yet, but you can expect it to be around the same price as the regular mini 10. They will be available in Dell and Wal-Mart store shelves starting this October.

I have sung the praises of the HP Mini on a few occasions, and can't get enough of the netbook craze altogether. And although I love the mighty little machine, it does come with a certain disadvantage: it's so small you might lose it to the depths of your full-sized laptop bag. I know, I know, I shouldn't complain - the lighter the laptop means less shoulder strain for me. So I'm glad I found a bag that perfectly fits all my daily purse essentials, but leaves enough room for my Mini to tag along for the ride. And you wouldn't guess where I found it.

Coming straight from The Gap (it's true), this scrumptious Leather Hobo comes with a perfect 16 inches of legroom to fit your 10, 11 and 13 inch covered laptops perfectly inside. Plus, the fold-over top and adjustable strap make it easy for you to tote your things neatly over your shoulder or across your back and free up your hands.

At $160 dollars, it's quite the investment, but I'm a sucker for soft gray leather. Sure, it's not a perfect example of a super safe and padded carrying vessel, but you already know I don't limit myself to those categorized as "laptop bags" to carry my machines around in anyway.

AT&T to Sell $200 Netbooks Online and in Stores

AT&T has just announced that they will be expanding its line of broadband-enabled netbooks by bringing the slim Acer Aspire One, Dell Mini 10, and Lenovo S10 to stores nationwide. Best of all, they will only cost $199.99 after a mail-in rebate, but you must sign up for a two-year service contract.

The big thumbs down on this deal is the fact that contracts are priced at $40 a month for a 200MB plan or $60 for a 5GB plan.

The Toshiba NB205 Mini Laptop Is Coming to America

Later this month, Toshiba will be bringing its teeny and chic 10.1-inch NB205 netbook to the States, and it is expected to cost only between $350 to $400. With its nine-hour battery life, durability, Bluetooth functionality, and cool colors like brown, white, pink, or blue, it's definitely a winner in my book. This laptop is extremely portable and perfect for anyone who wants to stay connected on the go - and you don't get stuck paying the hefty price of other netbooks on the market.

Would You Rather Have Android on a Phone or a Netbook?

It's netbook madness all over the place - the only thing we could ask for is more variety. . . and more operating systems.

So far we've only seen one released Android cell phone - the HTC G1 - but it looks like Android is hopping into the netbook fray too, with the Alpha 680, which runs Android and costs $250.

To say I'm excited about an Android netbook is a huge understatement. Even though many new Android handsets have been predicted, I'm way more curious to see how this OS will play out as a computer.

What about you - given the choice, would you rather experience Android on a netbook or on a cell phone?
