Aug 24 2009 - 3:50am I just saw the college graduation comedy
Post Grad starring Alexis Bledel and
like Buzz, I thought the movie was also quirky and cute, but I had a few quibbles with the technology.
First, there must have been some sort of MySpace deal for placement, because it opens with Bledel's character Ryden posting a video blog getting live video comments on a very fancy-looking MySpace UI. I haven't been on the 'Space for a while now, but I'm pretty sure this is not the latest redesign.

I think it has to do with copyright and not wanting to advertise the OS, similar to using fake labels on food products on the Food Network. Most everything on a computer screen on TV or movies is added in during post production anyway, and they want to make everything BIG and CLEAR.
1I thought this was strange, as well. The opening sequence was very cool, but I wondered if people my age actually still use MySpace to share information about their lives? Everyone I know uses Facebook, and while some of us have MySpace accounts, they're not that active unless the person is involved in music.
Also, as someone who is employed by a student and new grad job site in Canada (TalentEgg.ca), I know there are dozens of similar sites in the U.S. because the job market is much, much larger. I can't imagine there would be entry-level jobs in the newspaper that wouldn't be on these websites.
2i would have found these things annoying. i'm not an expert but i definitely have an affinity for my os and have built a computer before.
3These sound pretty annoying. Luckily I can't really stand Alexis Bledel so I wont end up enduring any of it.
4I have noticed movies sometimes blur out the apple icon, and the
5systems they use are often sort of made up. As far as the movie goes yes that is a major oops. It's strange they didn't have some sort of consultant on set or during the production to keep up with technology. I'm too old to have used my space and I refuse face hooked, but still if I was making the movie I wouldn't hesitate to ask whats the latest.
