Souvenirs Inspires Travel, Creativity in Photography

Flickr is a dreamland - but while you get to be exposed to a wide variety of photography, amateur and professional, it's overwhelming and sometimes difficult to find new streams that move you. That is, until you find something like photographer Michael Hughes's set of images, called souvenirs.

Hughes's cheeky photos consist of images where he holds the miniature version of a landmark up to the actual landmark that inspired it, like the Eiffel Tower or the Brandenburg Gate.

I'm not usually amped up to take a ton of photos of an iconic monument, but Hughes's work encourages me to see the "same old things" with different eyes - or lens, ahem. Check out the whole set and see if you don't get the same feeling!

Meet This Year's James Beard Award Winners

The time has finally arrived: the James Beard Awards, or the Oscars of the food world, have just been announced. After months of suspense following the announcement of this year's semifinalists and subsequent finalists, the results were announced at a star-studded gala in New York's Lincoln Center, where a smattering of top talent from Grant Achatz to Top Chef winner Paul Qui walked home with medals.

For the first time ever, there was an Outstanding Bar Program award, and it went to Jim Meehan, owner and bar manager at PDT in New York City. Other highlights? Eleven Madison Park's Daniel Humm nabbed top prize for Outstanding Chef; Wolfgang Puck spoke at length as he accepted a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Christina Tosi of Momofuku Milk Bar fame took home title of Rising Star Chef; the pastry wunderkind declared that if she could cook anything for James Beard, it would be turkey pot pie. Read ahead to see the full list of 2012 James Beard Award winners.

Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis Reunite For a Pre-Oscars Party!

Black Swan's Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis reunited last night for a Vanity Fair and Fox Searchlight Films bash in Beverly Hills. The pregnant star and her fiancé Benjamin Millepied arrived back in LA on Wednesday evening ahead of this Sunday's Oscars. Natalie is a favorite for the best actress win, and we celebrated her success by taking a look back at her amazing award season run. We're also gearing up to see what she picks from hair and makeup to the dress she chooses to accommodate her growing baby bump. Mila will be a presenter during the show, an honor she shares with everyone from Justin Timberlake to Scarlett Johansson and Matthew McConaughey. Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy stuck together at yesterday evening's soiree after she attended Tuesday's Costume Designers Guild event. Emma Roberts posed with her friend and onscreen mom in Homework, Elizabeth Reaser. The Breaking Dawn matriarch has yet to join the rest of the cast, including little Mackenzie Foy, Robert Pattinson, and Kristen Stewart, in Vancouver. There are rumors that Robert will fly back to California for a quick Oscars cameo, but whether or not it's Mr. Pattinson, the producer promises a Twilight presence. Check Out the 2012 People's Choice Nominations Before the Show Airs Tonight!

The People's Choice Awards are tonight, so now's your chance to get a good look at who's up for the trophies. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is dominating the movie categories, especially since there was no Twilight film eligible for this year's awards (though Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson still earned nods because they appeared in other movies). Vampires are still big at the PCAs, at least for the TV categories - The Vampire Diaries and its stars are all over this list. On the subject of the small screen, the awards have brought in another distinction for television: network shows and cable series are now separated (and fan favorite Game of Thrones pops up for its first season).

You'll be able to watch the results when the show airs tonight, and remember: we are LIVE from the red carpet and backstage throughout the show! The live show starts at 5 p.m. PST/ 8 p.m. EST, and you can watch us here.

Announcing the 2012 Golden Globe Nominations!

Well, folks, we're finally getting into the heavy hitters of award season, as the 2012 Golden Globe nominees were announced this morning. As expected, award season darlings The Artist and The Descendants led the way with five nods apiece, but there are plenty of surprises here, too. George Clooney is going to have a big night, as his The Ides of March scored four nods, including one for him as a director. Ryan Gosling managed to score two nods for acting, for Crazy, Stupid, Love as well as Ides.

In the TV categories, new shows ruled as nods for New Girl, Game of Thrones, Boss, Episodes, Enlightened, and Homeland made the list - and that's not all. Zooey Deschanel scored a best actress nod, as did Mireille Enos for her work on The Killing and Laura Dern for Enlightened.
