MadTV Does It Again With The iRack

If you just so happened to miss this nutso skit from MadTV, here's your chance to see Steve Jobs at it again. Steve proceeds to go through all of his products including the iPod, iPhone etc, and then he starts talking about the latest i gear including the i Picture Frame, iLamp, iMicrowave and the iVacuum cleaner. He then reveals the much anticipated new product - "ladies and gentlemen, I give to you the iRack." Basically it spoofs the whole Iraq situation. Check it out and you'll see what I mean!

Steve Jobs Goes Psycho With The iPhone

I know there are a ton of iPhone videos out there, but this has got to be at the top of my list. Kudos to the team at MAD tv for creating such a hilarious parody of the huge Macworld announcement. I'm sure the reaction of audience members at the conference was quite similar to this "You have to stop Steve Jobs, it is too much now!" Love it!

Vintage Geek Explosion: Mad Men

You wouldn't think that geeksugar would have much to say about AMC's runaway hit Mad Men, set in the early 1960s - but you'd be totally, utterly wrong.

The retro-era show is actually rife with geekery - vintage geekery that is. Not only is it a rare look into how the times were for health, the sexes, minorities, and business, we also get to see the infiltration of technology into the home and the workplace.

Amazing tech quotes abound, like this over-the-top sexist zinger: "The manufacturer made it so easy a woman could use it." Of course, we'd love to say that sexism in regards to technology manufacturing has gone the way of the black and white TV, but we can't, necessarily.

Besides the women-friendly typewriter, there's the old-school video cameras, the wild concept of the copy machine, the out-of-placeness of a tube television in a single woman's apartment, and one of my favorites, the crazy (and crazy important) sight of the switchboard ladies, connecting the mad ad men with their clientele.

How I'd Wire Betty Draper

It's not easy being Betty Draper. The trendy housewife and former model from AMC's Mad Men has to keep up appearances, keep up with three children, and keep her often chaotic emotional life on track. She certainly deserves a few push presents after delivering her new baby and putting up with Don's adulterous antics. I've offered up some suggestions for how I'd wire hubby Don Draper, but it's Betty's turn.

The charming Mrs. Draper is all about keeping up with the Joneses, so instead of relying on predomindately vintage-inspired gizmos, I've collected an assortment of retro and modern devices that would assure the couture gal stayed connected if she were living in current day.

Retro Goes iPhone: Mad Men Gets an iPhone App

Set to return for its third season this month, excitement for Mad Men is heating up.

Luckily, there's lots of geekiness involved - I told you how I'd wire Don Draper, and AMC first made a Mad Men avatar generator perfect for your Twitter and Facebook profile photos, and now they've added a free iPhone app so you can keep up on the latest news from the set of the 1960s drama.

There's behind the scenes video, blog updates, and sneak peeks from Mad Men and a few other AMC shows too, should you tire of the fabulously retro program (not that that's likely to happen).

The Beast Revealed: Mad Men's Copy Machine

I've already quizzed you on the geeky first season of the amazing show Mad Men, and one of the questions was regarding one of my favorite early quotes by Don Draper about how he had no "magical machine that could make copies."

But, lo and behold, at the beginning of the second season, his foreshadowing scoff becomes a reality, and the office of Sterling Cooper gets a copy machine. Watch the flabbergasted expressions of the ladies of the office in response to the behemoth marvel of technology!

Afro Samurai Review: A Beautiful (Semi) Disaster

Disaster may be a little too harsh of a word to describe Afro Samurai, but on the flip side, calling it beautiful may not give this game the credit that's due. The first thing you're going to notice while playing Afro Samurai is the insane art design, and the kick-ass music (which is notably scored by Rza from Wu Tang Clan and Howard Drossin) that periodically had me stopping play just to listen to the beats.

Afro Samurai is based on a Japanese manga series and subsequent anime mini series that has run here in the US on Spike TV. Just like in the show, Samuel L. Jackson lends his voice to the main character's sidekick who helps Afro along in his quest. What quest, you ask? Well that's a good question. See what I mean when you read more.

If you aren't a fan of the manga or mini series, then you might be a bit lost when you begin the game. There's no real explanation of what is going on or what you're doing. But really, you don't have to know the inner details of the story to enjoy the game, so you just might find yourself saying "Huh?" a few times. The game has its faults, but the main gripe I had about this visually stunning game is the lame and unchangeable camera controls. They are inverted, which means that if you want to look left, you move your joystick to the right and if you want to look up you have to move your stick down. I know that there are a lot of gamers out there that prefer inverted controls, but for me it just makes things all the more frustrating, especially when there's nothing you can do to change it. Additionally, the menu kinda stinks, and isn't very helpful when you're trying to figure out your weapons and direction.

But to be honest, the good outweighs the bad in this situation. Although you will find yourself bored at times, there will be moments of awe when you realize that the game is playing out on your screen like a comic book and you've never seen anything like it. When you are getting confused as to what to do next without many clues, a new track will start playing and you'll realize that Rza is a mad genius. And of course, when you start thinking that this game is too bloody and gory (it may be, but it's done oh-so-stylishly), you'll realize just how satisfying it is to slash your enemies, and how cool they look when they go down.

Overall this game is definitely worth a look, even if it's for the artwork and soundtrack alone. I loved hacking away at my foes (especially when I get to chop them in half with my sword), and just for the record, Samuel L. Jackson is one bad mo-fo.
