Do You Ever Use a Pay Phone?

Last week when I was visiting London for HTC's Touch Diamond launch, it dawned on me just how many bright red phone booths there are scattered around the city - even though the city has already removed about 30,000 since 2002.

Is it just me or have pay phones been slowly phased out in the US? The last time I found myself in desperate need of one was when I lost cell phone reception and I needed to extend my Zipcar rental. Other than that, it's just me and my BlackBerry, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.

But then again, in the upcoming Sex and the City movie, SJP is spotted using a pay phone (which convinces me that they aren't ready for the vintage label just yet) - thankfully she's wearing gloves! Therefore, maybe in cities like London and NY, they are still regularly used? What's your take? Do you ever use a pay phone?

New London Bar Includes Fully-Interactive Interior

Welcome to 24, one of the most technologically-advanced bars located in London, England. Said to be the first fully-interactive bar in the world, 24 will feature computer controlled projections that can transform images and video on a blank canvas wall with the click of a switch. There will also be hundreds of LED lights installed that will give the venue over 1,000 different color combinations. What is really unique are the interactive projections that will react to your movements when you attempt to touch them. For instance, say you are at the bar with a glass, the projections will send light beams across the base of the drink. Free Wi-Fi Locations In London Mapped Out

Whenever I'm in search of a legal Wi-Fi connection, I usually check out Hotspotr, a great site that lists thousands of Wi-Fi cafés all over North America.

For globetrotters or UK natives, you'll be happy to know that the Londonist has created a similar site which displays free Wi-Fi locations on a map of London.

Use this map to find Wi-Fi in all sorts of places including coffee shops, pubs and even bars. And if there's a Wi-Fi location not listed on the map, just leave a comment and the map will be updated with the latest additions.

I wonder if British rocker Pete Doherty would rather chase the paparazzi with his Macbook than sit in a pub surfing the world wide web?! Maybe he still has yet to get the memo about this useful new site.

A couple of pictures from a recent visit to the London Eye. Taken on a Canon 450D. I kept my camera on auto as the light conditions were fluctuating quite a bit and I couldn't keep up with switching the settings quickly. I edited them a little in iPhoto once I'd uploaded them.

A Sneak Peek of Mulberry's Accessory Collection For Apple

Yesterday at the Mulberry Store in London, England, stars came out to set sight on the British fashion brand's latest accessory line, which consists of laptop bags, sleeves, mini messengers, and iPhone/iPod Touch cases. FabSugar UK admits that this is a good partnership between the two companies and I'd have to agree with her. This nine-piece collection will feature bags with Mulberry's signature icons like the Bayswater for women and the Brynmore for men.

The items are available now from selected Mulberry stores, or you can wait until Dec. 1 when they'll be available online from the Apple store.

Does Foursquare Equal Overshare?

I recently realized that my days spent planning an evening out with friends seem to be fewer and far between. Our ability to stay in constant communication with each other via text, Twitter, Facebook, and more means there's no need to plan ahead. Instead I find myself saying, "Just text me when you get there," and creating our plan on the fly.

The latest addition to the ever-growing lists of constant-contact facilitators is Foursquare, recently profiled by The New York Times. Users of the social networking site can share their current location with friends in real time. The free service is designed for use on the go, and in addition to its web-based presence has BlackBerry and iPhone applications available for download. The service is based on check-ins: when you arrive at a location (a restaurant, store, bus stop, wherever), you "check in," disclosing your location to friends. Check-ins earn you points; a series of check-ins at certain places (three places with a photo booth or 50 unique venues, for example) earn you coveted merit badges. Add tips and to-do lists with any location, and read other Foursquare users' tips and lists when checking into a new place. This isn't a new concept - Foursquare founders built the idea from Dodgeball, a now-defunct service that used SMS messaging to alert friends of your whereabouts. And services like Latitude and Loopt provide similar location-based services.

Foursquare launched in March and is now available in 35 cities from New York to Vancouver to London.

T-Mobile's Dance Commercial Is For Sharing

It's rare when commercials make you feel good, and even rarer when they can make technology seem like a community enhancer rather than a discourager (much like that inspirational Nokia commercial). This T-Mobile commercial also manages to uplift with this ad with what seems like an entire train station of London commuters spontaneously dancing together (400 people were in on the commercial gig). They really drive it home with the tagline "Life's for sharing".

And dancin', I might add.

Bow to your Queen Geek, ladies and gents! Queen Elizabeth II (she of her very own YouTube channel) paid a visit to a modern place of worship: Google. No, she's not in California, but rather Google's London HQ.

While there, the Queen watched a YouTube video and laughed her little hat off - it's so refreshing that she's just like us, giggling at funny Internet videos.
