30 Rock's Liz Lemon got an iPhone at the start of the 2008 season, and it was just the begging of Apple love for the show, which is sponsored by the company. In fact, Apple even used clips from the funny sitcom to show off the new Find My iPhone feature at June's WWDC, so we know the love is mutual. What type of tech do we expect - and hope - geeky gal Liz will rock this season? Find out.

Liz Lemon Gets an iPhone!

When 30 Rock returned Thursday night, I was mostly excited just to see one of my favorite TV geeks ever, Liz Lemon - and I wasn't disappointed. Actually that's an understatement, because Liz totally rocked my socks off when she revealed an iPhone!

I've never seen The Girlie Show's head writer with an iPhone before, so I totally appreciate the props decision for this season. Is this just the beginning of Liz's gadget love?

Apple Uses 30 Rock to Show Off Find My iPhone

Yesterday's WWDC event was an exciting place to be, especially since it was my first time at the annual conference. For those not as into tech, though, I admit that a developer's conference doesn't exactly sound scintillating, but Apple always does what it can to make their keynotes entertaining, like with musical guests. This year, my favorite pop culture reference was when they used a 30 Rock clip to demonstrate the need for the new Find My iPhone feature, with Liz Lemon being on the compromising end of a stolen iPhone and "adult photo." We knew 30 Rock loved Apple and now we have conformation that the feeling is mutual.

So without further ado, here's the clip Apple showed yesterday at WWDC!

I freaked out a little bit when I saw that my favorite TV lady, Liz Lemon, got an iPhone this season (especially last week's totally realistic revelations of her not knowing how to decline a call or get past her password), but Apple products on 30 Rock are nothing new. The iPhone Is the Biggest-Selling Smartphone in the US

Steve Jobs is going to be ho-ho-hoing himself all the way to the bank this holiday season because Apple has sold a total of 13 million iPhones to date with a whopping 6.89 just in the last quarter of this year!

There's no denying the success of this glorious gizmo - heck, if Liz Lemon upgrades, there's no telling how high sales will get! Not only is the iPhone the top-selling smartphone of all time, but it is the second best-selling mobile handset in the US as well, with one in three iPhone purchasers switching phone carriers to become AT&T subscribers. Who came in second? Motorola's Razr 3. Other top-selling smartphones this year include the BlackBerry Curve (second place), BlackBerry Pearl (third place), and Palm Centro (fourth place).

Did You Have a Beeper?

I saw a childhood friend at a birthday dinner a few weeks ago, and we got on the topic of how much communication and gadgets have changed since we were teenagers. On top of making us feel old, it evoked memories of our hoary pre-cell phone days. He actually reminded me that, for a brief (but oh so awesome!) time, I carried a beeper (commonly referred to as a "pager" by unhip people and doctors). I can't explain why, except that one day my parents presented it to me as a way to "keep in touch" when I was out with my friends.

I can't imagine having a pager without a cell phone would benefit anyone aside from Stone Age doctors at this point, given payphones are considered vintage artifacts. News to Liz Lemon's pager salesman ex on 30 Rock: Pages are just text messages created without the genius of the QWERTY keypad. I've got nothing to say but 143, I promise.

Tina Fey Shows Off Her Organizational Skills

In a recent print ad for American Express, Tina Fey was captured in true form with her daughter Alice Zenobia in what I'm assuming is her home office or the world's messiest set design! After spotting this ad on lifehacker, I'm starting to think that Fey may not be as geeky as we thought. With so many post-its, papers and notebooks, one can only assume that she hasn't made the leap into online organizing just yet. At least she's taking a step in the right direction with the MacBook, but someone needs to teach her how to make her life paperless! With new services like Twitter and Google Doc's she can surely swap those post-its for a clutter-free work space. Maybe I'm underestimating her geekiness, because in the latest issue of Geek Monthly, Jimmy Fallon confesses that Tina is in fact a 'geek.' "I think Tina is a geek superhero," says Fallon. She's very smart which I guess you can classify as a geek thing, and she doesn't have 20/20 vision, which also adds to it if we're gonna break it down. Everyone has their quirkiness and she embraces it, and that's what makes her cool." Fey goes on to admit her geek is "pretty deep. I will say the character I play on the show (Liz Lemon), she's a deeper geek, though. She has better Star Wars knowledge than I have by about 40 percent." Source
