Instead of yelling at your fellow commuters, whip out your fancy phone for easy access to mobile maps that will offer alternate routes, drive time projections and apps that will tell you how long it's really gonna be.

Remember when I asked if you would switch from Google to Microsoft for your searching needs if you were paid? About three-quarters of you swatted away the idea like it was last year's Blackberry, but after using it myself, I urge you to reconsider. Not for keepers mind you, but handy if you want to save yourself some cash.

Microsoft has partnered up with Ebay to bring you Live - the search engine that fetches you some pretty sweet deals, among thousands of search results. Just enter your search at the top of the page, and Live will tell you how much you can save if you buy from participating Ebay stores. I just bought my boyfriend's Christmas gift and will be getting back 30 percent from my buddy Microsoft. I can't tell you what the gift is (never know when he's reading), but I can tell you it's something of the gadget persuasion. Who woulda thought, right?

Eva Mendes, Live in Paris

Eva Mendes smiled big in her LBD at the premiere of Live! in Paris yesterday. In the mockumentary, Eva plays a TV executive who produces a reality show where the contestants play a real game of Russian Roulette. Sounds a little out there, but we can see Eva working it as a high powered business executive in power suits. For now, we'll just settle for watching Eva strut her stuff around Europe in her cute little premiere numbers. Also, if you want to get Eva's glowing look, let Bella know now!

See Paula Deen Live!

If you've ever wanted to see Paula Deen live, now's your chance. This summer she's kicking off a "National" Tour - I put national in quotes because it's only five cities: Shreveport, Charlotte, Nashville, Dallas and Atlanta. Each two hour show will feature Ms. Paula cooking up some of her favorite dishes, answering fan questions, sharing tips and doing whatever it is a chef does when on tour.

"People need to get on back to the kitchen," said Paula. "I'm gonna show you how we do it at my house. I'll tell you what I cook and share the secrets to making it good. But the most important thing I want folks to realize is that the memories are what matter. Families get to know each other through cooking a meal together, and then sitting down and lickin' their plates clean. Now that's comfort food."

Catch The Hold Steady Live Online

The Hold Steady put out my favorite album of 2006 - the careening masterpiece that is Boys and Girls in America - so I was delighted to see this live performance by the Hold Steady posted on AOL Music's Spinner site. The band's live shows are alternatively brilliant and unhinged, and this video is no exception. The footage, recorded in New York and Minneapolis, features a track from each of the band's three stellar albums: "Most People are DJs" from Almost Killed Me, "Banging Camp" from Separation Sunday, and "Stuck Between Stations," the opener off the band's newest album.

Experts Say Sexism Keeps Women Out of Military Combat Roles

Ask GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum why women shouldn't be allowed to serve in combat roles, and he will give you various reasons. First off, a man's emotions. Santorum believes men will try to save their fellow female soldiers, explaining this weekend: "instead of focused on the mission, they may be more concerned about protecting someone who may be in a vulnerable position, a woman in a vulnerable position." In addition to chivalry, Rick says "You throw on top of that just simply physical strength and capabilities," and women simply can't handle the job. Fortunately, the military, which recently opened 14,000 combat jobs up to women including tank mechanic and front-line intelligence, doesn't completely agree with Rick, and experts say "sexist" attitudes are responsible for a policy against trained female soldiers serving in combat positions.

Sociologist Ryan Kelty, who specializes in studying the military, tells LiveScience that the old-fashioned belief that women must be protected is not a good enough reason to exclude women who want to and are capable of serving their country. In other words, chivalry is not a legitimate basis to deny a woman employment, especially when there is no evidence that professional and highly trained male and female soldiers are incapable of carrying out their missions. Kelty explains the military should employ gender-neutral, objective requirements. For example, a soldier should be able to carry 100 pounds for eight hours, regardless of gender.

There may be back and forth, but the truth is that women already serve in these combat roles. In Iraq and Afghanistan, 144 women have lost their lives, 60 of them in combat, while 865 have been wounded. And countries including Canada, Israel, and Australia already allow women in close-combat roles. Despite the slow evolution of American rules on women serving, it can be said that the US military doesn't have the most retro policy. In China, women recruits must display a talent like singing or dancing and Russia holds a Miss Russian Army beauty pageant.
