Luxurious Doomsday Bunker Stocked With Computers, LCDs

If it's the end of the world and I know it, there's no where else I'd rather be than this $10 million dollar doomsday bunker designed to house up to 200 people for a year after a nuclear strike. Designed by California-based firm Vivos, it isn't your grandpappy's underground safehouse - this 20,000 square foot complex comes stocked with a power generation system, water wells and filtration, a medical bay, security, a computer room, and even a common area that's equipped with large LCD TVs.

The only thing I'm wondering is - how are they going to get the Internet and digital TV signals after a nuclear strike or a massive flood? I can only watch Jerry Bruckheimer DVDs so many times in a year. Just sayin'.

Hold on to your hats, nerds - a company called Roundtable Concepts is launching their own line of Marvel-branded LCD and LED HDTVs that will arrive styled in classic Marvel comic book characters like Iron Man, The Hulk, Captain America, Fantastic Four, and more. Ranging in sizes from 22" to 46", these TV sets will have your choice of superhero embellished on the bottom corners of the set, but it's when you power it on that all the magic happens - an image of your character (and their name) will flash across the screen for about 8 seconds.

Beyonce Tapped by Vizio For Super Bowl Ads

Beyonce Knowles is getting her hands dirty with all kinds of tech lately, starting with her long-time relationship with her Nintendo DS. And while the superstar has been known to dabble in designer cell phones, she's now been tapped to represent Vizio during this year's Super Bowl.

The LCD TV manufacturer will be producing a number of 30- and 60-second spots to be played before, during, and after the game, which will showcase their newest line of hi-def TVs and will no doubt leave some room to show off a few of Beyonce's signature moves in the process. You can catch Beyonce starring in the minute-long commercial during the fourth quarter of the game.

Before you drop all that money on a 46-inch flat panel HDTV you found on sale, maybe you should make sure there's enough room in your studio apartment for that bad boy. What, you think that just because it's flat you can fit it anywhere? As fun as it may seem to turn your apartment into a full-fledged movie theater, you should know that there are optimal viewing distances that you should adhere to. The general rule of thumb is to place your TV at a distance of three times the height of your screen (3 x H) away from your sofa.

For example, if you're buying a TV that has a screen height of 30 inches, you should sit approximately 90 inches or 7 feet away to view your picture in all its splendor. Just a little something to keep in mind before you buy that new LCD!

Harrods' In-Store LED Light Display Tantalizes the Tastebuds

If you've ever been to London, visiting Harrods - one of the world's most famous department stores - is an experience in itself. Well now there's something else to tempt your eyes in this gigantic department store. . . an array of 3D-lighting window displays created by The Anemix - a Chilean lighting company.

Cool Hunting discusses how this six-panel lighting system was created for Harrods' in-store "Senses" campaign to mimic the human senses. The window displays will be up until March 28, when the Senses campaign officially ends. Have a peek at more images below.

High-Tech Luxury Bathroom: Love or Leave?

Would you love to have a bathroom that is decked out with all the latest gadgets? Imagine having a bathtub like this one I spotted on Bornrich. The Splash is a 17-inch wide screen, water-resistant LCD TV that comes with a 176-degrees horizontal and vertical viewing angle and an iPod docking station. As much as I'd love to say that it'd be great to watch television while taking a bath, I prefer complete serenity- zero technology and noise. Now the iPod dock is a different story, because rocking out while getting ready is always fun. What do you think? Is it over-the-top to have technology in the bathroom?
