We haven't really heard from Kid Rock in a while, but now that he's surfaced, he has some strong words for illegal downloaders of music. He gets pretty far in his satirical tirade comparing illegal music downloads to stealing iPods, laptops, and cars, before I say: We Get It Already. Stealing is bad.

I know how much you love a good gadget-pimped hotel, which is why I thought I'd share the news about The Ritz-Carlton in Naples, FL getting a total-teched out section of the hotel called the Vue lounge - Vue standing for (virtual user experience). Not your typical hotel gaming room that often features a console and a TV, nope, the Vue lounge boasts Mac stations, iPod docks, a 63-inch LCD TV with a Blu-ray player, a Bang and Olufsen surround sound system, Guitar Hero, Rock Band, a Nintendo Wii, PlayStation, XBox 360 and more. They even host Wii fitness classes and bowling tournaments, which are all complimentary to resort guests. I guess if you've got kids, or are an avid gamer, or even if you want to take some of these games for a test drive, this hotel may be worth looking at.

Although I don't listen to the radio much, I like to keep up on what the kids are listening to these days. After finding a ton of radio tuners in the App Store, I finally settled on one of these six tuners to install on my iPhone so I can rock out to the top 40 (or listen to some good talk radio) wherever I happen to be. Malia and Sasha Obama Go High Tech For the Kids Ball

Wow, the adorable Obama girls are impressing me more and more each day. We already knew that Malia rocked a Kodak M893 digital camera during the inauguration festivities on Tuesday, well the other night, her little sis' Sasha was spotted with a Flip video camcorder at the We Are the Future Kids Ball. Considering Santa brought them a Wii this year for Christmas, I can't say I'm surprised by all their tech toys!

Wii Music: Don't Call It Rock Band

After I got my party on with Raving Rabbids and had my fill with the Personal Trainer Chef Edition, it was time to rock out with the Wii!

Wii Music (coming out Oct. 20), is Nintendo's answer to Rock Band, but is only similar to it in the sense that you're standing-up and interactively making music. Elements of competition are removed, and replaced with the ability and encouragement to play songs any way you want.

Using the Wiimote and Nunchuk controls, you can choose among a ton of instruments like piano, violin, guitar and the cat and dog (you read that correctly), and then play with your friends to make stylized versions of classic songs. The music is a bit more midi-sounding than Rock Band or Guitar Hero, the avatars just Miis, and all the songs super family-friendly, which makes Wii Music a really great option if you want to expose kids to a music game, but aren't that comfortable with the graphics and songs that the other games provide.

It is a great year for TV Tech, kids! To get this Best of 2008 party going, we'll be looking at the geeky goings-on of the boob tube.

There's always a cell phone trade-up on Gossip Girl, not to mention a profusion of posts on the namesake blog and secrets passed around on flash drives, while on Lipstick Jungle, the well-connected ladies vie for the latest Apple product. And let's not forget the BlackBerry bunnies of The Hills! But less likely veterans made a play for the geekiest show honor as well; 30 Rock integrated iPhones, while The Office geeked-out with iChat and Bluetooth.

But you're the decider; tell me, what's your favorite geeky TV show of 2008?

Do Earbuds Make You Worry About Your Hearing?

My poor dad sometimes tells me to repeat something, and then with a knowing look says "rock concerts," as if to explain how he's lost a little bit of his hearing over the years. I wonder if one day I'll be saying "earbuds" as an explanation to my kids when I don't catch what they say right away.

That's what a CNET writer fears, due to the widespread use of in-ear headphones (and the fact that he can hear the music of other people outside their headphones), and I do too, especially with the option and temptation to turn it up, up, up. Add that to the possibility that using a cell phone can cause hearing loss, and you've got me hoping that in 20 years, we'll have geek-chic hearing aids.

Am I the only worrywart out there, or do you worry about your hearing, too?

Grrrr, Arrrgh! Handmade Monster Laptop Sleeve

Why am I suddenly entranced by monsters? Could it be Summer horror-movie season?! Maybe. Or maybe this Monster Laptop Cozy, like the DS-Gobbler, who was almost universally loved, is just plain cute.

Get Your Game On: April Releases

The time has come for the start of the video game "dry" season. . . a gaming drought, if you will. Although there are a few games being released this month that are worthy of your time and cash - like one of my April Must Haves: Mario Kart – truth be told, some are just filler until we get to the next batch of great games. Fortunately, we had a huge Winter, and my console is still humming to the likes of Rock Band, Mass Effect (will I ever get the time to finish!?), and of course Super Mario Galaxy.
