Have You Ever Had to Tell Someone to Stop Texting You?

Stars! They have dating issues just like us. The latest on the Jessica Simpson-Tony Romo breakup is that there was a cell phone skirmish involved; supposedly ex John Mayer's texts may have come between the two (you'd think Mayer would have learned his lesson about technology's role in a breakup).

I've seen more than a few couples have issues over an ex still texting someone, and last week, I saw it on TV as well, when Cole on NYC Prep suggested that his on-again girlfriend Taylor tell her in-between Lothario Sebastian to stop texting her.

Most people stop calling each other after a breakup, but the low-pro status of texting sometimes remains a tempting way to stay in touch. But have you had to tell anyone - ex or otherwise - to stop sending you text messages?

Although Mr. Apple himself - Steve Jobs - was absent from this year's keynote address at WWDC and is said to still be working from home, I've decided to dedicate a slice of today to him. Twitter Came Between Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer

John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston may go down in history as being the first celebrity couple to break up because of a Twitter obsession. We all know that avid Twitterers like John Mayer spend a good portion of their time in the Twittersphere, but according to Star, Mayer told Aniston that he was too busy to get in touch with her, yet he always managed to have the time to update his Twitter page (if only he would start Twittering more of his fashion style tips). Eventually, Aniston got fed up with John putting his Tweeting priorities ahead of his relationship so she decided to call it quits.

When PopSugar recently chatted with John Mayer about attending the Oscars with Jennifer Aniston, and he even opened up about his Twitter habits and his new found interest in TwitPic. Here's what he had to say about it:

"So the other night I was sitting up in bed because I couldn’t sleep. And I found out that if you go to a TwitPic, whatever one it is, and if you just start messing with the sequential order of the link, so if its like a1m2 go to a1m3, and it's someone else’s photograph. So we just started Twittering."

He even admitted to putting up a picture on TwitPic and claiming it was a friend:

"We were finding other peoples TwitPics. Look at TwitPic.com with a savvy eye, and you’ll see American life at its most amazing. You’ll see through a lens of people you’d never meet. This is my brother Doug. This is. . . I’m taking a bike ride with Eric Childs. It’s ridiculous. I’m trying to find a new frontier for Twitter. There’s an art form somewhere there, I don’t know what it is yet."

I love how John is becoming just as enamored with Twitter as Ashton. Yesterday John even posted a Tweet announcing that he's going to pick up a Kindle 2. "It takes something that costs 300 bucks to get me to read a 1.50 cent paper on it." I completely agree. I'm the one still hoping and wishing for a price drop.

John Mayer Bats For Both Teams: Apple and Sony

MacBook Air? What MacBook Air? John Mayer must have cured his Apple addiction because he's now the poster-boy for Sony - appearing in a Sony Vaio ad in the latest issue of Wired. Maybe I'm just blind to the fact that he's got a ton of tech-company connections, including RIM with all of his BlackBerry hook-ups. But all in all, I guess everyone wins in this situation - Apple gets free publicity for their hot new gadgets, Sony pays Mayer oodles of cash to splash his face all over their ads, and Mayer gets all the latest tech toys he can handle.

OK John, I get it. You're buddy buddy with Apple and have huge BlackBerry connections. So I'm not shocked whatsoever to see that you've scored yourself the best of the best, the BlackBerry Bold. And no, it's not wrong to enjoy getting cool stuff early. But I can't help but wonder what your new girlfriend thinks of all your tech toys? She does love BlackBerrys, so you better keep a close eye on her with this one. . . Don't say I didn't warn you!

Have You Ever Googled Yourself?

Or maybe I should ask how often? Yesterday John Mayer denied a rumor about him that claimed he was so ego-obsessed, he Googled himself every morning! He responded to it on his blog by saying that it was, "quite simply, untrue." Oh, now John, no need to be defensive! (There are way worse things you could be accused of doing every morning.)

Surely I'm not the only one who's Googled myself! And more than once. I mean, shouldn't you be aware of what's on the web about you? And isn't it just plain fun? There could be someone with your name doing something hilarious or horrible (side note: when I first started dating my boyfriend, he Googled me to find someone with the same name writing some pretty bad poetry, but he stuck with me, potential bad poetry and all).

So, do tell: Have you Googled yourself? How often? Have you ever been surprised by what you've found?

John Mayer Scores a MacBook Air Early

John Mayer must be well connected to the geek gods because he's already got his hands on a new MacBook Air, which he posted pics of on his blog. Mayer has already proven he's a geek by performing at several Apple events, by owning a customized BlackBerry Curve, by having BlackBerry be the official sponsor of his Summer tour, and by openly confessing that he's a master gamer. Take all that and add your celebrity stardom to the mix and you've got yourself a new MacBook Air. Looks like he's really flying high now!
