First Impressions of the HTC Snap

The HTC Snap has been in stores since the beginning of June, but I wanted to wait until I got my hands on one to give you a run down on its features. At first glance, the HTC Snap has a BlackBerry look to it, more so a BlackBerry Bold than a BlackBerry Curve . . . but when you pick it up, you can definitely tell it isn't a BlackBerry.

If you're a Windows Mobile fan, this bad boy runs Win Mo 6.1, so you can easily sync up your contacts, calendar, and email. And with the one touch access keys, you can get to your camera, messages, and the Internet quickly and effortlessly. Other useful features include a two megapixel camera, a microSD card slot for additional storage, and GPS functionality. I also want to point out that it offers a full QWERTY keyboard with keys that are a tad on the bigger side for those who find BlackBerry's to be difficult to type on.

Thumbs down goes to the fact that it doesn't have WiFi or a regular headphone jack.

You can currently pick one up from Sprint for $150 (give or take your contract situation), or if you're with T-Mobile or Verizon, have a peek at the T-Mobile Dash 3G or the Verizon HTC Ozone, which are basically the same device as the Snap.

HTC Announces the Hero Android Device

Just days after T-Mobile announced their next Google Android handset - the myTouch - HTC is now announcing their latest Android smartphone, the Hero. What's great about HTC is that it really strives to improve its handsets over time, so you know you're always getting something exponentially better than a previous model. For instance, the Hero comes with a whopping five megapixel camera and an anti-fingerprint coating on its 3.2 inch HVGA touchscreen. . . a big step up from the Magic. You can check out the video below to see its fancy new HTC Sense UI in action. The HTC Hero will be available in Europe and Asia later his Summer and will make it to the US by the end of the year.

HTC's Touch Cruise, Cruises Into Stores This Spring

Take the popular HTC Touch and the Touch Diamond, add in lots of GPS and geotagging functionality (dubbed "HTC Footprints"), and you've got yourself HTC's latest handset, the Touch Cruise.

What's really grabbing my attention about this phone is its beautiful 2.8-inch LCD touchscreen with QVGA resolution, its 3.2-megapixel camera, and its fun NaviPanel mode. With NaviPanel users can access a ton of travel tools - like navigation shortcuts - from a simple interface.

This model will be hitting store shelves in a few months. No word on pricing just yet.

Jenny's New Cell Phone on Gossip Girl: HTC-tastic

Since it looks like pretty much every single character on Gossip Girl got a new cell phone for Season Two, I thought some of you might be curious about what your favorite Upper East Siders are carrying since you've been back into this season's tech quizzes! Last week I told you Blair had a new maroon eNV2, and this week my gaze is fixed on the budding couturier, Jenny Humphrey.

Jenny used to have a pink RAZR - which I think fit her really well - but it looks like she's picking up some tech fashion steam with her internship. Not only has Jenny upgraded, but she's gone with the handset maker of the moment: HTC! HTC, you'll recall, is the maker of Google's new Android phone, the G1, and though Jenny couldn't get that (girlfriend's on Verizon), she went with the same color we usually see the G1 in: White. I myself am a huge fan of white cell phones and gadgets, and particularly this phone: The HTC Touch.

Available on Verizon for $200 after discounts, the Touch is a smartphone with a touch screen, music player, QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth, and you get access to an application store.

Sprint to Unveil the Touch Diamond on Thursday

HTC may be amping up for its big debut of the first cell phone to use Google's android platform later this year, but let's set that aside right now. Why? Because HTC is unleashing its sleek and sexy Touch Diamond on US territory - Sprint territory to be exact - this Thursday! It has been reported that the phone will cost $299 on a two-year contract or $549 if you buy it outright. To jog your memories a bit, the Touch Diamond is the elegant, visually stunning little phone I checked out in London this past May.

Finally! So, it looks like HTC's Dream - aka the first cell phone to use Google's awesome-looking Android platform - is going to become a reality: the
FCC has approved it!

The promises of Android are tempting enough to make me consider giving up my iPhone (well, add it to my cell phone collection maybe) - the shortlist of features includes WiFi, 3G, and Bluetooth - and check out this walkthrough video for more. Considering it's being made by HTC, whose quickly building its reputation for good-lookin' phones, the pot gets even sweeter.
