Use Google Talk in Safari on Your iPhone

I'll admit this isn't a life-changing tip, but a reminder that Google Talk has been redesigned specifically for the iPhone. It runs right in your Safari browser, so you don't have to download any special application. All you have to do is navigate to talk.google.com and sign in to your account.

The version was made to work in your browser so you'll be automatically signed out of Talk when you navigate to a different browser window or app. That means you won't always be online, but you can check in at any time to see if your friends are online or if they have updated their clever status updates.

Geek Tip: Making Yahoo Messenger Look Like Google Talk

If you are like me and have made the switch over to Google Talk because you appreciate its intuitive interface and simplistic design, then this might be a useful tip for you.

To make other chat programs like Yahoo Messenger, look like the ever-so-lovely Google Talk, all you need to do is download a Google Talk skin, and your complex Yahoo messenger days will be over! Just follow these simple steps:

Installing the skin
Click here to download the skin. Extract the contents of the zip and move it to C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Shared\Graphics (default installation folder, change it only if you have installed Yahoo Messenger somewhere else)

Activating the skin
Run Yahoo Messenger > Go to Messenger > Change skin…Choose Google Talk from the drop down menu and click OK

How To Download Google Talk On Your Blackberry

We all love instant messaging. It's cheap, it's fast, and it's great for people on the go. The creators of Blackberry Research In Motion (RIM) have released a free Google Talk application for the BlackBerry.

Google Talk runs on all 7100, 7200, 7500, 7700, and 8700 series BlackBerry devices running BlackBerry OS version 4.00 or higher. One more thing, unless you have a cell phone service provider from the United States or Canada, you unfortunately won't be able to download the Google Talk client on your Blackberry. Be sure to stay tuned for more updates and additional releases in the meantime.

Do You "Sneak" Out of Work to See Your Kids?

There isn't a specific date on the calendar, but sometime in the past two decades, the 9-to-5 workday disappeared, and the quantity of time spent in the office came to outweigh the quality of work completed. For moms who work outside the home, the shift has been extremely difficult, reducing the number of families that eat dinner together and generally reducing the amount of time parents and kids spend together. The only option for some moms who hope to see their tots before bedtime is to sneak out of the office and then "prove" that they are still dedicated by sending emails throughout the night.

Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook's COO, has been an outspoken advocate for working mothers. In a recent interview for the PBS Makers series, the mother of two admitted that she leaves work at 5:30 every day in order to see her kids, but didn't talk about it for years. She said, "I walk out of this office every day at 5:30 so I’m home for dinner with my kids at 6, and interestingly, I’ve been doing that since I had kids. I did that when I was at Google, I did that here, and I would say it’s not until the last year, two years, that I’m brave enough to talk about it publicly. Now I certainly wouldn’t lie, but I wasn’t running around giving speeches on it." She also admitted that she feels like "there's no such thing as work-life balance. There's work, and there's life, and there's no balance."

I've been seeing this guy for a few weeks. We've gone on a few dates, and he has come over to my house a few times to hang out with me and my friends. He seems like a great guy, and a total gentleman. He is nice, funny, caring, and I like spending time with him. I know it's common for people in their mid-20's and older to Google dates to find out more about them, but honestly this never occurred to me before. I've searched myself before just to see what would come up and nothing connected to me did, and same with all my friends, and I figured that since we were in college we hadn't really established ourselves enough for anything to come up in a search. But yesterday, I randomly decided to Google his name and was shocked at what I found... All these links to websites that post mug shots. At first I wasn't totally surprised because he told me he had gotten in trouble a few years ago for consuming alcohol as a minor so I thought that's what it had to do with. I clicked on the link, and it showed a picture of his mugshot, which at first I didn't even think looked like him. But the name was exactly the same(including middle), and the birth date was exactly the same so I figured it was him. I scrolled down and felt sick when I saw that he was arrested on sexual assault charges! I was seriously shaking from shock that I had gotten close to him, even letting him into my house, and I didn't know this about him. I was a little confused too because I never in a million years would have guessed that he would be involved in anything like this. He is so nice, and a total gentleman, which is something I really liked about him. Although we have been hanging out for a while, we have only kissed, and he didn't even kiss me until the third time we had hung out. With guys I take it really really slow sexually and he never put any pressure on me to move faster.
