Personal blogs are a tricky business; while they're great for blowing off steam or having a creative outlet, not everyone is comfortable sharing that much about themselves. But sometimes you want to be so personal, and if most of your life can be handled at your computer screen, why shouldn't you be able to record your deepest thoughts?

Diary is the answer - set up like a blog, with all the options to upload pictures, galleries, videos, and most importantly, your innermost thoughts - but it's all private, just for you. Of course, it wouldn't be Web 2.0 if you didn't have the option to make it public. Just be careful of the TMI factor.

I know that this long list looks scary, but trust me, once you get the hang of it, it'll be a snap the second time around.

First of all, join the Website of the Day group.
Click the pink "Share" menu on the top left side of the page.
Choose "Blog" and “Regular Post.”
Give your story a “Title.”
Fill in the “Body” with a link to your favorite website and the reasons why you love it.
Click “Next."
Choose the audience for your story to “Website of the Day” in the drop-down menu
Add keyword(s) (for example mine for this photo was "Website of the Day").
Change channel to “Technology and Gadgets.”
Fill in tag field with relevant tags.
Click “I’m done” to submit content.

So join the Website of the Day group and share information about all your favorite sites! Yours just might end up on the geeksugar homepage!

Nokia Creates The Wellness Diary For Cell Phones

Now you can have your very own personal trainer right inside your cell phone! The Nokia Research Center has developed a Wellness Diary which can be directly installed on your phone. Keep in mind that this latest creation is only available for series 60 Symbian phones with 3.0, 2.8, and 2.6 versions.

Some of its great features include monitoring, tracking and analyzing weight, exercise, eating management, fat percentages and sleep patterns.

How to Become a Vampire (No Real Blood Required)

Right around this time last year, I provided you with some easy instructions on how to
zombify your photos by using a website called Picnik. And with my new vampire obsession - thanks to Twilight and Vampire Diaries - I thought I'd show you a simple way to digitally transform yourself into a blood-sucking vampire, fangs and all.

Once again using Picnik's amazing effects, just navigate yourself to the left side of the page and click on the Halloween tab. At the very top you should see all of the vampire options to start transforming your face. Just upload a photo and click on the desired effect to get started. All Edward Cullen-inspired features are free to use, except the VampiraScope option is for premium members only. Take a good close look at those scary red eyes!

Tech Dating 101: Is It OK to Not Friend or Follow?

Saying there are a million ways to connect with people online isn't much of an overstatement. The trouble is, all that online communication and connection alters in-person interactions. People now use Facebook to get to know one another and, for better or for worse, judge one another on their online activity, friends, and reputation. When is it OK to say "no" to being online friends with a real-life pal or potential love to protect your face-to-face relationship? You'll find out in this installment of our Tech Dating 101 series.

A co-worker recently shared that a close friend and former flame of hers, whom she has known for more than 10 years, requested to follow her on Twitter after he started following one of their friends in common. She went to click the "accept" button but realized she had protected her updates for a reason, and though she knows this man well, respects him, and doesn't have secrets from him, she isn't ready for him to know what she thinks about Vampire Diaries or her lunch. Trust your instincts! If you don't want to let someone see your tweets or Facebook account or have access to your online world, don't! You shouldn't feel a moment of shame or guilt about this! It's not a requirement for being nonvirtual friends with someone. Chances are you have a good reason you are hesitant to share your updates (perhaps you fear he will be too interested in your tweets or you simply don't want him to read them) and that is absolutely OK. Better to block him than accept him and have regrets. If you are really worried about online anonymity and hiding from a select person or persons, make sure you take proper precautions to keep your social networking activity private.

Paris Hilton Gets a New Cell Phone Every Two Weeks

During a pretrial hearing for failing to promote the movie Pledge This!, US Magazine goes into how Paris Hilton (who we already know is no stranger to technology), pulled out all of the tech excuses, which included saying she used Google as a way to keep track of business meetings.

Paris also went on to blame missed calls from producers on her lost cell phones. She says:

With my phone I never know, because I lose it all the time. I probably get a new cellphone, like, every two weeks.

And when the lawyers showed her a copy of her cell phone bill, she admitted that she's "never seen a phone bill in her life."

I can honestly say, that she's probably telling the truth, I mean, this would explain the constant device changes and endless supply of cell phones!

Geek Out: What's Your Office's Policy on Blogging?

An internal document reveals that employees of J. Crew are not allowed to blog at work, but wait - their definition of blogging is not just limited to keeping a personal online diary, it's also "any other form of posting information on the Internet, such as postings on a personal web site, business networking, social networking or affinity web site, on a bulletin board, or in a chat room."

I assume that means Facebook and Twitter, which employees are further instructed to not mention J. Crew if they are going to post anything anywhere. Fine if you don't have much to say about work, but they really stick a fork in it when they say, "Do not engage in blogging using any company resources." There go your Twitter updates about what you're eating for lunch.

I understand that the company wants to protect its image and interests, but we all know how cranky it makes worker bees to be denied their Facebook time.

First Look at the Wii Fit and Rules for the Fitness Test

Yesterday, I hit the gym. . .I mean, the Wii Fit for a taste of what's to come in my 30 day Wii Fit Fitness Test. Although I wasn't expecting to break a sweat, I did have a nice dewy glow after trying out a few of the Wii Fit's features. My fave so far? Hula Hooping!

You may be wondering what rules I'll be setting for myself this month as I begin the 30 day Wii Fit Fitness Test. They are simple, but I can promise that I'll stick to them to give you the most accurate results possible. I'll even stop hitting the gym and make Wii Fit my only source of exercise for a full month! Am I scared? No. Cause even if I don't lose a pound, I'm sure I'll have a blast anyway.

So here are the rules: I'll be Wii Fit-ting for 30 minutes each day, maintaining a Fit Approved healthy diet (no extremes here!), as well as maintaining all other normal daily activities that I engage in now (walking to the bus, walking to the store, etc.). Plus, I'll include a weekly run down of my planned activities so if you get your own Wii Fit, you can join in! This should be a true test to whether or not this baby packs a weight loss punch!

To kick off the festivities, a few of us gathered around the flat screen and tried out the Wii Fit for the first time. After registering my height and birthday, WF weighed me in and gave me my BMI (body mass index) and goals to work towards. I have to admit that exercising with the Wii is way more fun than I anticipated, leaving me excited to hit the balance board again tomorrow!

Running
Running with the Wii Fit has you holding the Wiimote in your pocket (or even your hand) while you run in place at different speeds with your guide as you jog through a scenic park. And once our tester was finished, he openly admitted that it was harder than expected.

Hula Hoop
I used to love my hula hoop when I was a kid, so this was totally fun for me! Just by rotating your hips, the Balance Board can sense your motions and has you twisting to catch more hula hoops to up your score. I was breathing harder at the end, so I can imagine that if you really put 100 percent into this exercise that you could get a pretty good ab and hip workout!

Tightrope Walking
Walking across a tightrope high above the ground isn't really anyone's idea of fun, unless it's on the Wii of course! Balance is the name of the game as you walk from one building to another dodging dangerous obstacles by jumping in the air and landing on the rope. . . without falling!

Skiing
Skiing down hill was much much harder than I thought it would be. But truth be told, I'm not much of a skier in the first place! You must slalom through the gates at a good pace to get a great score. I definitely need to practice more of this in my 30 days!

Korean Knock Off Shuffle Goes Octagonal On Us

Remember Molly's Dispatches From The Future (i.e. awesome diary from her trip to Hong Kong)? Well, consider this a Back 2 The Future part two moment. A friend of mine is in Korea for work and managed to snap us a picture of this fantastic faux iPod shuffle, which provides us a tiny window into the Korean iPod Black market. Oh. I love it so. It doesn't look as authentic as the ones Cult of Mac's Pete found in San Francisco's Chinatown, but its octagonal navigational bar gives it a fun twist and a fair chance should a copyright lawsuit ever come up. ("No, your honor, it was inspired by the Apple shuffle, but it's completely different, see the octagon? It looks nothing like the Apple wheel!") No word on whether it comes in light green or purple. I've spent the last five minutes trying to make out the other MP3 player copy cats in the background. Yeah, I'm just geeky like that.

Steve Jobs Announces New iMacs

The identity of the man behind the Secret Diary of Steve Jobs may have been revealed this weekend, but the real Steve Jobs didn't skip a beat when he showed up to reveal Apple's new products today at the Summer Mac Product Press Conference. The new lust-worthy items? An updated iMac that touts shiny aluminum and glass. It will come in 17, 20 and 24-inch models. Also in the new lineup is the expected wireless Bluetooth 2.0 keyboard and mouse. The cost of the new iMacs is comparable to the current ones - $1199, $1499, and $1799 for the three sizes.
