Kristen Stewart Is Sole Female Among Top 15 Highest Earners

Ladies, we have come a long way since the days of fighting for women's suffrage. From business to sports, we've advanced our professional status by leaps and bounds. So I was truly amazed to discover that on Vanity Fair's recently released "Hollywood's Top 40," a list of Tinseltown's top moneymakers, only one lady landed a top-15 title.

Love her or hate her (and her acting chops), No. 13 Kristen Stewart was the highest ranking female on the list with estimated 2010 earnings of $28.5 million, beating out onscreen vampire hubby, Robert Pattinson. I really shouldn't be surprised since women make about 21 percent less than men on average. However, I figured Hollywood plays by different rules; I assumed that the amount of star power some of these starlets hold and media attraction from the paparazzi would dictate their worth. Apparently, I was wrong; it pays to be the boss - just ask list leader, James Cameron, who earned an estimated $257 million for writing, directing, and producing Avatar.

Forbes reports that the company is on track to making $800 million this year- that's just how powerful celebrity endorsements are. Although most consumers know that these stars are being paid to promote the product, perhaps they tend to trust the brand more after seeing their idol gushing about the item.

The ultimate example of how well celebrity endorsements work is the Oprah Effect. I must admit, while I was watching Oprah’s Favorite Things, I marveled at her ability to make people emotional over mac and cheese. I’m guessing that Oprah is a public figure who people trust, which is why her stamp of approval works like magic. I’m wondering, does a celebrity endorsement of a product make you want to buy it or does it not matter?

Yesterday I posted two videos that featured Rachel Zoe in not only one, but two Microsoft Bing commercials. Today, I've got two more - this time Rachel is getting her Bing on with her assistants, Taylor and Marisa, as she tries to find a small camera and searches for room availability at her favorite hotel in Paris. Microsoft Bing is the "official decision engine" of The Rachel Zoe Project, which is why these RZ commercials are coming out of the woodwork. Stay tuned for these Bing TV placements to also appear in The Philanthropist, coming this Fall to NBC. I'm still trying to get in the habit of Binging instead of Googling, what about you?
