Canon's New Point-and-Shoot Cameras Resemble DSLRs

I don't know what it is about a black, rugged, encasing, but I automatically think - DSLR! Canon has yet again dressed its PowerShot cameras to impress with new exteriors and advanced features like customizable shot settings.

The six new cameras from four different product lines are great for those who want something a little bit more advanced than their regular point and shoot, but aren't ready to make the leap to an expensive DSLR yet.

Take for instance this new 10 megapixel S90 that is tiny and compact, but boasts features from the PowerShot G-series camera line. The new cameras range in price from $249 - $499 and will hit store shelves in September and October.

Concept Cameras I Wish I Could Get My Hands On

I never shy away from concept products, because if there's one thing that is constantly changing and evolving, it's gadgets. For instance, don't be surprised if you see these prototype cameras - which both serve a handy purpose - on the market one day soon. The first is the Triops Digital Camera by Franziska Faoro which features three fish-eye lens cameras that will conveniently capture every memorable moment - panoramic style, of course. The second is the Canon Snap by David Münscher that is so teeny and tiny, Twitter and Facebook junkies will be able to keep their profiles constantly updated with one single click! Do You Buy Gadgets Because They Come With a Rebate?

Love a good deal? Canon has added a few amazing rebates on their DSLRs and lenses, and I automatically thought: I could use a new lens for my canon SLR.

Was I shopping for one? No, not really. But I can't turn down a good deal, and gadget rebates are a huge temptation, much like passing a department store with a huge sale sign.

The thing is, I love them when there's a rebate on something I was already planning to buy - it's like icing on the cake. But sometimes a rebate is all I need to get my credit card out (bad habit, I know). That said, I've never been shopping for a gadget and had my heart set on a brand when a fabulous rebate swayed me the other direction.

What about you? Do rebates sway you into a buying a certain brand or product?

Oh Barack, where have you and your BlackBerry been lately? It feels like it's been forever since we've talked about our favorite US president. What with all the cell phone drama that ensued when he first moved into the White House, things have been pretty low-key since then! Well some fun photos have surfaced on The Official White House Photostream, which show the president and his wife having a geeky good ol' time. Both taken by Pete Souza, the first one is of Barack, Michelle and friends sporting 3D glasses while watching the Super Bowl and the second is of President Obama playing around with a photographer's Canon 5D in Mesa, AZ.
