Quick Guide Through Canon Camera Symbols

If you are the proud owner of a Canon Rebel or Canon PowerShot camera, you might not remember the details of your instruction manual and need a refresher on what all those little symbols on the mode dial stand for. We'll run through the quick basics, so whether you are taking pictures of food, scenery, or your friends at a party, you'll have flawless shots.

Canon's Mode Dial is comprised of two function zones: the creative zone and the basic zone. The creative zone features more manual settings and requires detailed knowledge of setting ISO, aperture, and shutter speed. The green rectangle represents the Full Auto setting and separates the two-function zone. The picture images are within the basic zone that includes a series of automatic image settings. So, here's a quick rundown of your dial's settings.

Martha Stewart - gadget fan? Seems so! Not only is Martha Stewart the home-ec queen of daytime television, but she's making her foray into video game development, and last night, took some time out to discuss her gadget preferences on Twitter.

Besides keeping her Canon G11 PowerShot close at hand as she did during a recent visit to the Tribeca Film Festival, Martha uses her BlackBerry to stay on top of her emails and appointments, while her Sony Vaio gets most of her attention while she's being worked over in hair and makeup.

You think Martha is rocking a new Sony Vaio W? I wonder what color she'd choose . . .

Daily Device Dose From the Community: 5 Must-Have Gadgets

GofortheGeek shared her lineup of favorite gizmos in the My Favorite Gadgets group.

It's tough to choose my favorite toys, but I'm selecting the ones I rely on and use the very most: MacBook Pro, iPhone 3GS, shuffle, DVR/TV remote and Canon PowerShot (charger pictured here since I used it to, um, take this picture!).

I couldn't work or play online without my laptop, but my iPhone and Shuffle provide the most entertainment and mood-boosting abilities. All I have to do is plug in my headphones to my shuffle and jump on the treadmill and it's party time!

There are some gadgets you just can't live without. Cool Capture: A Black and White Long Exposure Experiment

There are so many awesome photos to choose from in our Cool Capture group, that it's getting hard to decide which one to feature here! If you're anything like me (and I have a feeling you are), then you always have a camera handy just in case an opportune moment arises to capture something beautiful, just like GeekSugar community member icecreamsprinkle who shot this image. I adore light trails, and sometimes it's experimentation that gets you the best results. She says:
