I don't know what it is about Katherine from Desperate Housewives, but she seems to be one of the leading gadget girls on the show. We've already unveiled her cell phone - a nice fire engine red Centro, and now I've figured out what kind of Bluetooth earpiece she uses as well. For $90 you can have Katherine's Plantronics Voyager 520A Wireless Headset, which offers eight hours total talk time, a noise canceling mic, and 33' range from your Bluetooth enabled cell phone. I can't wait to see what gadgets ABC has cooking for Katherine for next season!

After chatting with a friend on the weekend, who got nailed with a $130 after getting caught chatting on her cell phone (California law requires you to use a hands-free device while driving), I've decided to show some love to the Bluetooth devices. Just like Nadya Suleman, my friend is going to have to invest in a hands-free device. Since she's a bit of a fashionista and doesn't want to use the standard earpiece included with her BlackBerry, I feel like it's my duty to offer up some decent suggestions.

Although the first headset pictured here is a Dolce & Gabbana H700 Bluetooth Headset by Motorola ($73), I had to force my friend to ignore the D&G label. The headset is too big and the shiny gold is a little over the top - definitely not geek chic in my book. Instead, I recommended this sleek Jawbone Bluetooth Headset with Noise Assassin ($74) to her, which is still stylish, and offers amazing sound technology.

Spicing things up for Spring and Summer, Jawbone has just debuted their new line of candy-colored Bluetooth earpieces that come with catchy names like Yello!, Drop Me a Lime, LILAC You Mean It, and Frankly Scarlet. This new line of headsets are said to deliver up to nine decibels of improvement in noise suppression and with NoiseAssassin 2.0 technology, there is suppose to be 5x better call clarity in noisy environments. The bright new Jawbones will start selling nationwide on May 2 for $130.

Naturally, since long-distance lovers Jim and Pam from The Office have already conquered video chat to keep-in-touch, why not take it to the next level with the world's tiniest Bluetooth earpiece?

In this funny clip, you'll see Pam showing off her latest tech purchase - a Bluetooth earpiece - which she found in a Japanese gadget store. Later in the show, Dwight notices that Jim is wearing one and says, "Is that the Matsahasi B400D, the world's tiniest bluetooth?" He couldn't stop staring in adoration and wanted to touch it. I wonder if it will re-appear in this week's episode?!

Do You Wear a Bluetooth Headset When It’s Not in Use?

In recent years (and even months, due to the Hands Free Law), the use of Bluetooth earpieces has become more and more common, and I'm increasingly seeing more and more people on the street wearing them, which is great!

They're convenient and wireless and that's nice and all, but seriously. What is this trend of wearing them when you're not using them (or expecting a call)? I'm not talking about keeping it in the car (which gets a free pass for safety's sake), I mean just putting them on, walking the streets (or the mall, or where I inevitably see a gaggle of them: the airport), and sporting them like an accessory. No one's calling.

Is it the anxiety that you might get a call and won't be able to get it on and connect fast enough? Educate me, inactive Bluetooth headset wearers!

Right up there with the Discovery 925 and Jawbone headset in terms of functionality and total class is the latest by Joby - the Zivio Boom Bluetooth. With a sexy and sophisticated exterior and with 10-hours of talk time (and over 300 hours on standby), this headset is definitely going to be making it to the top of some Christmas wish lists this year. All this for only $130.

Hand-Painted Bluetooth Earpieces: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?

Seller Indigo Daydreams has found her geekery niche on Etsy: She paints Bluetooth earpieces (most of them seem to be old Plantronics 220s) from dull black plastic to whimsical, colorful little tchotchkes, like this teal polka-dot number.

Now, to be delicate here. . . . The 'tooth was pretty ugly before, but I am not sure it looks much better in the afterlife. Maybe it's because I've gotten used to thinking that sleek designs like the Jawbone are the name of the game.

But maybe I'm too safe in my choices - I also shied away a little from those customizable Jabra earpieces, so clearly I'm not the right audience. Are you?

Geekish or Freakish? Bluetooth Mini Phone

Now this is an interesting concept which I spotted on GeekAlerts. Wear a retro phone handset around your neck and use it as a your bluetooth handheld for your cell phone. Yes with the $70 bluetooth mini phone lanyard you can answer calls from your cell via the tiny one by pressing the call button. I'm gonna vote freakish on this one and suggest a possible douchebag vote as well. What are your thoughts?

Stylish Clipset Bluetooth Headset

Designed by Matthias Lange, the Clipset was created as a comfortable and stylish antidote to more masculine Bluetooth headsets. While other common headsets often affect the appearance of the user in a very technical way, the Clipset is all about the chic. If it's currently not in use the earphone could be wrapped around the device. The interface consists of three buttons. Two buttons for volume control and one power button that is also used to answer incoming calls.

This is certainly a sleeker option than the pulse bicycle safety helmet, which comes with a bluetooth receiver so you don't have to hold a cell phone or mp3 player while you're riding your bike.
