Apple Teams Up With Zipcar to Get You Going

Need a car, like, right now? With the Zipcar App and a Zipcar membership, you can find a ride wherever you are. With just a few taps, you can find the closest available Zipcar lot according to your current location and see which ones have available cars. Not only that, but with the new app and technology, you can see how much the car will cost, reserve it, and even save as your favorite right from your iPhone.

If that's not enough, once you get to the Zipcar lot, it's easy to find your reserved ride. Right from your iPhone, you can enable a locator,which will honk the horn and even unlock the car. I've always said I never needed a car in the city, and now I'm totally convinced!

This is a hilarious super old Apple Computers commercial. Two of my favorite lines include "I speak 7 languages but I can't understand this" and "I'm sorry, I don't know anything about computers either." Nowadays we could never use that as a line. Everyone, including their five year old brother and their eighty year old grandmother know about computers. Isn't it amazing how technology has infiltrated our lives since the early 80's?!

Apple's TV Ad For the New and Improved Nano

What's a new Apple product without a catchy new commercial right? Thankfully, I had a decent seat at the Let's Rock Apple event this morn so I was able to catch the colorful iPod Nano ad in its entirety. Love the splattered Apple at the end and the background tunes, but I'd have to say the showstopper had to be Jack Johnson performing three songs after all the big announcements. Wow-a-wee-wah - Samantha Ronson last night and Jack Johnson today, I am one lucky geek!

What's That Song? Apple's Latest Booty-Shaker

Apple's master advertising people have once again picked an awesome song that makes me want to get up and dance crazily - preferably with a new iPod and a neon background. The artist is British band The Ting Tings and the song is "Shut Up and Let Me Go" - it's ridiculously fun and dancey, a lot more high energy than my last Apple ad fave, "New Soul."

How do they do this?! I would like to see if I could possibly hire this person just to constantly make me compilations of new, rad music. But then I'd be way too cool for everybody, and I don't want that.

Mary J. Blige For AT&T: Better Than the iPod Ad?

Celebrities? Endorsing gadgets? Don't act like I haven't said those words in the same sentence before! R&B/hip-hop artist Mary J. Blige is back after taking a little tech hiatus following her iPod+iTunes commercial, and is showing off three smartphones from AT&T: the LG Neon, the Motorola Karma, and the LG Xenon. Coincidentally (or not so coincidentally) her new single "The One" is playing in the background as she texts on the cell phones.

And just because I love comparing commercials as much as I do, I couldn't help but notice some similarities between her AT&T commercial and the Apple commercial. Which one do you like better?

More Verizon Commercials Bash AT&T Service

Fresh off the heels of the Droid launch last week, Verizon just released its new holiday ads, featuring the same 3G coverage maps that appeared in previous ads.

The latest anti-Apple commercial features an iPhone banished to the "land of misfit toys." While Verizon did add a disclaimer at the bottom of the screen explaining the illustration (highlighted in the image), I'm wondering if AT&T will have similar issues with these ads. Not only are they showing the map in question from previous commercials, they're also taking a direct hit at the iPhone - and ending the commercial by showcasing their brand new phones.

AT&T Sues Verizon Over a TV Commercial

Who didn't see this coming? AT&T is suing Verizon over their recent ad campaign, playing on Apple's iPhone catchphrase "There's an app for that," and laying into AT&T's supposed lack of coverage. According to AT&T, the side-by-side view of maps showing each network's 3G coverage areas is confusing to consumers, leading them to believe that there are large parts of the country where AT&T doesn't provide service.

I can see how the side-by-side view of the maps could be misleading, but Verizon isn't fudging any numbers. The maps in the commercial show 3G network coverage for both providers. The difference is, where there are holes in Verizon's maps there isn't coverage. On the AT&T map, much of the white areas not covered by 3G, AT&T's 2G network is offered. Apparently Verizon did add a disclaimer to the ad, but AT&T is still dissatisfied.

AT&T's main goal seems to be to get these commercials off the air. . . Do you think they have a case?

MacBook Air Commercial Celebrates Its Thinnovation

After watching Apple's new MacBook Air commercial, I couldn't help but let my mind wander - Especially with Yael Naim's "New Soul" playing in the background. Imagine for one moment that someone approaches you and says "Excuse me miss, this package is for you," and just like that, you get to open an envelope containing a MacBook Air. Yeah, right - in Apple fantasyland maybe! Check out the full commercial below . . . It's short, it's sweet and it makes brown envelopes look somewhat sexy again.
