Wondering what's going to be hot and not-so-hot in the upcoming year? Here are some of my gadget predictions for 2008!
OLED Televisions: Surprisingly OLED TV's weren't overly popular in 2007, even though they created quite the buzz with their super-slim design, energy saving technology, and exceptional screen quality.
To wrap up our week of Oscar-worthy gadgets, is the final 2008 Best Picture Oscar Nominee There Will Be Blood. Based on the novel Oil! by Upton Sinclair, There Will Be Blood is set in the late nineteenth century in Southern California and stars main-man Daniel Day-Lewis.
iPhones may be one of the most liked gadgets of 2008, but BlackBerrys seem to get the most smartphone love. Audrina Patridge, Lauren Conrad, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie, Paris Hilton, and Madonna are constantly spotted around The Hills, at clubs, or on the set with their crackberrys. Of course, we can't forget the gentleman: Barack Obama kept his BlackBerry on hand his entire campaign, John Krasinski became the voice of BlackBerry Storm, and John Mayer used his connections to get a Bold before anyone else.
Our second installment of Best of Polls for 2008 is all about celebs and their cell phones. With geeksugar features like Match the Celeb With the Cell Phone, Celebrity Gadgets and Cell Phone Evolution, it's easy to track the famous females that are always glued to their phones. I have my favorites, but I want to know yours!
Applause, please! Not only has the iPhone 3G already won Favorite Cell Phone of 2008, geeksugar readers have bestowed yet another Best of 2008 win: Favorite New Gadget of 2008!
Are you going to make me say it?
I couldn't be happier to know that there will be another chance to pick up a Polaroid One Step and a packet of instant film next year. After Polaroid announced that the instant film camera would be put out to pasture back in 2008, there was an uprising of epic proportions — fans did not want to let go of the beloved medium. In a digital world, there's something comforting about capturing the moment with such a low tech and vintage device.
Where would we be without a little fantasy? They're the anti-necessity, but I love to look at luxurious accessories, whether I could ever afford them or not.
I had a lot of faves this year, but my absolute fave coincides with your pick for favorite luxury gadget accessory of 2008!
This is the year where it's been kind of bad to be the priciest, most luxurious gadget accessory, but just because we can't order anything, doesn't mean we can't peruse the menu!
My fave untouchable luxury accessories were either cast in leather, like Mulberry's and YSL's laptop bags, real gold, like Tiffany's Camera Bracelet and the Solid Gold Flash Drive, or gold lookalike — as in LaCie's Golden Disk Drive and Gold Python BlackBerry Purse.
Which one is your ostentatious fave?
The original iPhone was released in June 2007, but in 2008 Apple upgraded to the iPhone 3G and we witnessed more and more of young Hollywood testing out its touchscreen and apps. Brody Jenner showed off his iPhone on The Hills before his LG Shine commercial; singers Carrie Underwood, Ashley Tisdale, Hilary Duff and Jennifer Hudson presumably love easy access to iTunes; Katherine Heigl, Kelly Ripa and Megan Fox play with their iPhone on the set and streets, while Spencer Pratt and Whitney Port made their mini machines famous on The Hills.
