Apple TV Is Running 'A Few Weeks Late'

So the rumor that Apple had postponed the shipment date of Apple TV was 100 percent true. Apple announced it would ship Apple TV ($299) in February, but now expects it to go in mid-March. "Wrapping up Apple TV is taking a few weeks longer than we projected," spokeswoman Lynn Fox told Reuters. Apple has not released an official statement on its press site yet, but I will keep you updated.

What is Apple TV? Announced at this year's Macworld, Apple TV connects to your TV via an HDMI port or component video and audio ports. Its built-in, superfast 802.11 wireless capability syncs your iTunes library to any Mac or PC in the house. So, whatever is on your Apple TV stays in sync: Anytime you change your library in iTunes, it changes on Apple TV - wirelessly and automatically. You can get Apple TV for $299.

People Going Ga-Ga Over The iPhone

Oooo-la-la, behold the all mighty iPhone. This is what we saw at Macworld, hundreds of people crowding around the shiny glass case which showcased the luxurious iPhone. We were wondering just how many alarms would go off if someone broke the glass, which we were tempted to do out of curiosity- now if only we could have gotten our hands on it! How Does Apple Keep Its Secrets?

The fact that every tech blog and media outlet was obsessed with the iPhone this week is a testament not only to the the phone's design, functions or timing, but to Apple's ability to keep a really juicy secret. Manufacturers release sleek and innovative phones and gadgets every season, some of which are wildly popular, but never talked about in the press the way the iPhone is and will continue to be. When it comes to big announcements, Apple is in its own league.

This week New York Times columnist David Pogue investigated Apple's hush tactics by asking Steve Jobs if he knew of the work of Jeffrey Han, who’s been demonstrating his big “multi-touch” screen technology since at least August 2005. According to Pogue, Jobs told him: “We’ve had ours for two and a half years,” implying that Apple’s version came first. For more of Pogue's story, read more

I also asked Mr. Jobs and Cingular’s CEO, Stan Sigman, how Cingular managed to keep the iPhone a secret; he conceded that the company had never had to manage a project in such secrecy before.

The answer, I was told, is that Cingular (like Apple) divided the project up into teams of engineers, each of whom worked on only one section of the phone. In fact, Apple actually supplied Cingular with a fakeout user-interface design that bore no resemblance to the final one, so that its programmers wouldn’t know what they were working on.

There are few people in this world I would trust my secrets with. Steve Jobs is one of them.

"Because it was all backed up to a Maxtor OneTouch III Mini Edition."
My friend and I interpreted this display as an ad for the Maxtor OneTouch III Mini Edition storage device which comes in 60GB or 100GB capacities. Basically, these pictures were to show how many pictures were saved because they were stored on the Maxtor OneTouch III. Whether it was a marketing ploy or not, I vouch for it being a pretty cool display.

Apple Addicts Attack! Well not really, but plenty of Mac groupies did all gather at this week’s conference here in San Francisco. Macworld is a whole little world in itself, with tons of new flashy goodies and software for everything Apple. Of course, Steve Jobs' announcement about the new iPhone was a crowd pleaser - and there were plenty of geeky girls on hand that were willing to share their thoughts on the hot new gadget.

So, who needs an iPhone?

Belkin's New SportCommand For iPod

Touring around Macworld and checking out some of the latest products was definitely a rush. I was super pumped when I saw the Belkin display and even more excited when I saw this woman displaying the new SportCommand for iPod while on an exercise bike. I noticed how large the buttons were for easy use and I think it's great how this gadget protects your iPod from being dropped and damaged while working out. The SportCommand is wireless so you can store your iPod in your backpack or jacket and because of its weather-resistant durability, the SportCommand is great for outdoor sports!

MCA Showcases iPod Accessories At Macworld

Yesterday I spotted this colorful table from afar at Macworld. When I got closer I was happy to see all of these delicious iPod accessories by MCA. Dress 'em up, dress 'em down, iPod is the new frickin Barbie! Although I didn't make any purchases, I definitely got some great ideas for my next shopping excursion. See more styles below.

How Big Is the iPhone Really?

Yesterday, I got an intimate look at the iPhone, which means I got to stare at it through a rotating glass case at Macworld in San Francisco. So, I printed a mock of the phone so you could see how it measures up against some of my other favorite gadgets. Now is probably the time I should admit I have abnormally small hands.

The iPhone is 2.4 inches by 4.5 inches, with touch controls that let you enjoy all of your content - including music, audiobooks, videos, TV shows, and movies - on a sleek widescreen display. It also lets you sync your content from the iTunes library on your PC or Mac. As you can see, it's slightly larger than the RAZR and Blackberry, but it's also thinner. Saying there was a lot of excitement in the air when Steve Jobs unveiled Apple TV today is a total understatement. The Macworld crowd went wild over the new product, and people gathered around the lineup of monitors hooked up to the Apple TV device into the afternoon. I'm really excited about it, and it's sleek, innovative and chic (all the things I look for in electronics), but I'm such a TiVo addict I'm not sure I need it. I'll probably come around.

Steve Jobs Announces The iPhone!

The grand announcement has been made folks, and it's an iPhone! Earlier this week 63 percent of you said you wanted an iPhone, so I imagine there are lots of happy campers out there today.

The Apple-branded mobile phone will have a touch-screen that combines features of the iPod, with some of the most innovative technology I've heard about in a while. It will run on the Cingular network and use a mini version of OS X. The iPhone is 1.16 cm thick and has a 3.5" widescreen touchscreen display with multi-touch support, 8GB of onboard RAM, Bluetooth, WiFi, and a 2 megapixel camera. I'm at Macworld right now, so I'll keep you updated on this and other announcements throughout out the day. Engadget featured some great photos. I'm taking more right now.
