Between the drive to the office and waiting time once you arrive, seeing your doctor can end up taking hours. As a time-saving option, Blue Cross is rolling out a new service this Fall — video doctor visits. You connect with your doc via video on your computer, avoiding the office entirely. These medical video chats will not only save time but prevent the spread of germs as well. It could be a convenient alternative for routine visits or everyday illnesses, but obviously wouldn't be recommended for serious issues like chest pains. Watch the video below for more details, and tell me if you'd be into video visits with your doctor.

When Video Chat's a Bad Thing: Michael Scott on Deck
Leave it to the world's most inept boss — The Office's Michael Scott — to make something wonderful (Video Chat) into something totally awkward.
Witness Jim trying to video chat Pam in last week's season premiere, which should be sweet and romantic, but in the office? That was his first mistake.
Oh, I always knew Jim was a Mac! He may be the hot PC guy at the office, but at home, he's all MacBook Pro. Hubba hubba.
Geek Tip: Adding Video and Audio to Adium
If you prefer using Adium as your all-in-one messaging application, you'll be happy to hear that there is now a plug-in that integrates video and audio chat into this IM client. The freeware MeBeam plug-in lets you start chatting with you contacts immediately by video when you click "Initiate MeBeam Videochat." According to lifehacker, Adium will create a web-based chatroom and send the URL to your contacts, who don't need the plug-in themselves. Not the greatest quality since it's still fairly new, but you can have up to fifteen people in a multiuser videochat, which is really neat.
Download of the Day: Camfrog Video Chat
Being able to chat with someone online is a convenience most of us wouldn't be able to live without, especially now that we can use our webcams for video chat. Camfrog video chat is different from other video chat applications because it allows multi-user videoconferencing, so users can join a chat room with up to a thousand people. This is much different from Eyejot, where videos can be recorded and sent in more of a one-on-one emailing format. If you like group chats, this may be the download for you. Keep in mind that this software comes with a Yahoo web browser toolbar which can easily be uninstalled.
