Did You Preorder a Verizon iPhone 4 Tonight?

I burned the midnight oil in order to get my hands on a Verizon iPhone 4 tonight (it was for my mom, not for me), and considering past iPhone preordering experiences, I was half expecting the process to be a little painful. It was. My mom had made a change to her family plan earlier in the day, and we were not able to upgrade to an iPhone 4 due to a pending order (ie: the change to the family plan, I'm assuming), despite the fact that she was told she would be "all set" to preorder at 12 a.m. today.

Bummed? Yes. I guess we'll have to try again tomorrow, or I'll be lining up outside a Verizon store come Feb. 10. What about you? Did you get your Verizon iPhone 4 preordered today?

Verizon iPhone Hotspot: $20 For 2GB a Month

One of the major pluses coming out of the iPhone 4's move to Verizon is the ability to link up five other devices to a built-in mobile 3G hotspot.

One of the major pluses coming out of the iPhone 4's move to Verizon is the ability to link up five other devices to a built-in mobile 3G hotspot. While the company hadn't previously released information regarding data plans and hotspot charges, Verizon is letting it all hang out today. We already know that the iPhone 4 will come with an unlimited data plan for $30 a month (for a limited time), and now Verizon has confirmed that using the mobile hotspot will cost you an additional $20 for 2GB of shared data.

While $50 for data doesn't seem like that much, tack on the minimum $60 talk and text plan, and you begin to realize just how much this iPhone 4 is really costing you — upwards of $1,300 a year — if you don't go over your limits. For example, each additional GB on your hotsopot will set you back another $20. Ouch.

Verizon held off on announcing its data plan pricing for its new iPhone 4 during this month's press event, which brought up some cost concerns.

Verizon held off on announcing its data plan pricing for its new iPhone 4 during this month's press event, which brought up some cost concerns. However, the company has confirmed that it will be offering an unlimited data package for just $30 a month. With AT&T's recent restructuring of its data plans last year, this news may give Verizon a leg up by enticing new subscribers to head on over to its network and finally get its large population of feature phone users to upgrade to a full-fledged smartphone.

But be warned: the data buffet won't be open forever. Find out more after the break.

What Makes You a Satisfied Smartphone User?

The Verizon iPhone launch date is creeping up, and it's only added to the turf war between loyal iPhone fans and loyal Android fans.

The Verizon iPhone launch date is creeping up, and it's only added to the turf war between loyal iPhone fans and loyal Android fans. But which fan base is most satisfied with its chosen smartphone?

A new study has found iPhone users are the most loyal to their device, with Android loyalty coming in a distant second. iPhone users, it seems, rank 84 percent more satisfied with their handsets than Android users, and while more Android handsets were sold in 2010 than iPhones, the few models of iPhones that do exist sold far better. However, Android users are much more likely to buy a second Android handset (although many speculate that it's because iPhones are not available to a lot of users!).

Whether you have an iPhone, a Droid, or any other cell phone, what makes you most satisfied about your pick?

New Cases For Verizon iPhone 4 Users

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past 24 hours, you should know by now that the iPhone 4 will be coming to Verizon on Feb.

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past 24 hours, you should know by now that the iPhone 4 will be coming to Verizon on Feb. 10. Not only does the Verizon iPhone come with some internal changes, like the new CDMA cellular chip, but since the antenna has been rearranged, the iPhone's volume and mute buttons have been pushed slightly farther down the body of the phone. This means that any AT&T iPhone user that plans on switching to the new Verizon model will probably want to buy new cases. Bummer.

Good news is, Case-Mate is on top of things with its new line of Verizon-specific cases. Ranging in price from $15 to $35, you can get brand-new designs and styles to keep your (fragile) iPhone in tip-top shape. Check them out in the gallery below, and expect these cases to hit stores sometime this month.
