Verizon FiOS just released an update to its FiOs DVR app for iOS. The new version of the app allows users to set multiple DVRs from anywhere — a feature I'd love to have when I get stuck in traffic on my way home!

The app also allows users to browse and search program schedules, view on-demand listings, and see what shows are popular in your area and around the country. While Comcast has had this DVR functionality for a while, this is a first for FiOS customers.

If you've been wooed by the Verizon network and are considering heading over to get an iPhone (despite AT&T's pleas to get you to stay or adopt its service), this new promotion may push you over the edge: by signing up for a Verizon FiOS TV or high-speed Internet bundle, you'll get a $200 rewards card to be used toward the purchase of an iPhone, which basically makes the 16GB version free if you're a new customer or signing up for a two-year contract.

What's more, since Verizon, Target, and Ebay are all offering some great trade-in deals, you may actually be able to pay for the new service fees and installation with the money you've made off of your old device. Can't beat that!

The trend of bringing television to other devices continues with a new app for the iPad from Verizon, who announced an iPad app streaming TV shows in real time to current FiOS customers. The app, which will arrive next year, will show live shows to start with plans to add recording and time-shifting in subsequent releases. The app will only work in your home in proximity to your current FIOS connection, so Verizon can verify that you're using it legally.
