Like it or not, the eco car is becoming more popular. I couldn't be happier, and to prove it, I've rounded up ten awesome earth friendly rides for you to feast your eyes on, and none of them start with a "P" and end with a "rius." Know why? Cause there are plenty of other options than the Toyota fan favorite! Check out some cool, hip, and sometimes odd, eco cars in this slideshow.
Nice and Tiny: The New Smart Car?
I can't get enough of Smart Cars, whether it's because one of Sugar's own is testing it out or because George Clooney is standing next to his Tango; it's the fun, green hotness right now. Now we have Nice's MyCar, and though it could be called the Smart Car's competitor, I like to think of it as SC's BFF, since we can only welcome petite, earth-friendly autos.

The geeky elements of this electric vehicle include bluetooth, a laptop dock in the passenger seat (!), and a radio/MP3 player. Basically, the only reason to get out of this little car is to stretch your legs.
George Loves His Tango, I Love George
Oh, that lucky girl Bella. Not only did she putt putt around town in a Smart car for a day, but she had my new eco crush George Clooney in tow! I knew Mr. Clooney had a soft spot for eco friendly cars, but I didn't know he could be spotted around LA driving an all electric Tango . . . at least until his hot new Tesla gets delivered.

His three-year-old compact one-seater is small enough to park in the tightest of spots, and apparently goes from 0 to 60 in four seconds! That's pretty darn fast, but not as fast as my heartbeat after seeing him in this photo. So dapper, so earth friendly, so freaking hot!
Are You Over Your Gas-Guzzler Vehicle?
I've seen more of these little guys puttering around the city lately — especially since BellaSugar and George Clooney took one for a test drive — and in case you've never spotted one yourself, let me introduce you to the Smart Car! This pint-sized eco car is said to get up to 45 miles per gallon on the highway, and for all you commuters, that means less pain at the pump!
With Nissan announcing Monday that it will follow suit of GM, Ford, and Toyota and scale back on the production of SUVs and turn their focus to more fuel-efficient rides, I think you might be seeing more Smarts and Hybrids on the roads soon. This is certainly good news for not only Mother Earth, but for drivers as well, since hybrids are bound to become more affordable with more of them hitting the roads.
Now that fuel-efficient technology is becoming more mainstream (and in higher demand), will you consider dumping your SUV for a more eco- and pocket-friendly car?
Is the Little Smart Car The Next Big Thing?
Is the Little Smart Car The Next Big Thing? It's cute. It's compact. And if the buzz is to be believed, the diminutive Smart ForTwo automobile is the Next Big Thing. Or is it?
Bella's Smart Car Adventure
Like me, Bella is part of a car-sharing group here in San Francisco, and when she found out that Smart cars had been added to the fleet, she squealed with glee. Last weekend, she rented a Smart Fourtwo for a few hours and tooled around the city. But would the miniscule vehicle deliver big performance and big fun? Read on to get the scoop from Bella herself.
Guess How Many Bags and Win Free Chips For a Year
Are you one of those people who can look at a jar and guess exactly how many jelly beans are inside? If so, then you and I should become best pals, and you can win us free chips for a year. Kettle Chips, in conjunction with Smart Car, is holding a contest where you guess how many bags of potato chips they've shoved into a "For Two" Smart Car. There's a rotating picture of the car in different stages of "full" and a few clues to help you guess. The right answer could win you free chips for a year.
While you're there guessing, you should also suggest a flavor and check out recipes that include Kettle Chips.
