Pets

Pet Podcasting With Pet Life Radio

I don't get a ton of time to check out Podcasts as much as I'd like to, but when I do I usually go to straight to the PetLifeRadio section on iTunes first.

I don't get a ton of time to check out Podcasts as much as I'd like to, but when I do I usually go to straight to the PetLifeRadio section on iTunes first. PetLifeRadio is like a one-stop shop for all the pet info that you can handle, including a ton of fun and informative videos, pet fashion tips, as well as health information from certified veterinarian Dr. Bernadine D. Cruz called The Pet Doctor. This channel is one of my faves since Dr. Cruz offers a broad range of subjects that are super informative and easy to understand, so I'm not struggling to keep up with the medical jargon. Top Chef

Get Your Top Chef Fix

If you're missing Top Chef — no new episode last night — head over to Chow and listen to what the losers have to say.

If you're missing Top Chef — no new episode last night — head over to Chow and listen to what the losers have to say. Jane Goldman, the editor-in-chief of the online foodie site, has exclusive interviews with each of the losing contestants. It's pretty fascinating stuff, I've already listened and here are a few highlights:

  • Apparently Tre — and several of the other contestants — was recruited by Bravo to be on Top Chef. They contacted him and asked if he was interested in participating.
  • Sara still feels the roach coach challenge was unfair and that she should not have been forced to cook in her heels. Surprisingly, Goldman agrees with her.
  • Tre believes there aren't enough sexy male chefs in the world and wants to be the first chef known exclusively for his sexiness and food.
  • Joey admits he wasn't paying attention to Hung and did over cook the pasta.

There is lots more where those tidbits came from. The chefs discuss where they are now and who they keep in touch with from the show. Check it out and than come back here and tell me what you think!

Travel

Walking Tours: Podcast Walking Tours

Oftentimes when we travel, we miss opportunities to see the city while still being able to burn off a few extra calories.

Oftentimes when we travel, we miss opportunities to see the city while still being able to burn off a few extra calories.

Instead of paying an arm and a leg to ride a crowded and sticky double decker bus that keeps you sedentary for hours on end, think about downloading FREE walking tours for your iPod (or any mp3 player). They're great options for anyone who likes to learn about a new place but doesn't like to sign up for the full tour. Here are my picks:

  • PodGuides.net is a great site that offers a few walking tours of fabulous places like the opal coast of France to the Saint Louis Science Center. The cool thing about PodGuides is that it is a combination of a map of a certain place with numbered dots on it and a series of audio tracks which you can download for your iPod. It's a great way to turn on your iPod and get moving, all while seeing some beautiful sights and burning off a few extra calories too.
  • JourneyPod.com is another option for walking around with your iPod on in a new place. JourneyPod takes you through more trendier spots in CA, NY and CT, giving you the scoop on what's what and where.

Download Of The Day: CoffeeBreak Spanish

My boyfriend and I recently decided we want to take language lessons and visit a foreign country together.

My boyfriend and I recently decided we want to take language lessons and visit a foreign country together. The idea sounded fantastic and exotic when we thought it up, but neither one of us has enough time to make it to the drycleaners, let alone a language class.

Thank goodness for the the CoffeeBreak Spanish method. All you have to do is sign up for the site's free podcast and each new episode will be delivered to your iTunes. When you take your daily five to 10 minute coffee break you can be treated to lessons on how to ask for directions, order paella or chat with shop owners - all while mentally preparing for your next vacation.

If you already speak Spanish, check out My Daily Phrase Italian, My Daily Phrase German, or my sister's favorite, Love Lingo, which teaches you the language of love via podcast.

Free Podcasts To Get You Through The Day

I am one of those people that keeps my iPod on nearly all day at work - it just helps me focus on what I am doing and not the chitter chatter around me.

I am one of those people that keeps my iPod on nearly all day at work - it just helps me focus on what I am doing and not the chitter chatter around me. In an effort to make sure I never tire of my favorite artists, I usually listen to NPR podcasts, some of which most people aren't interested in (think Car Talk's Call of the Week), and others that everyone seems to love (think All Things Considered and This American Life).

If you're looking to fill your day with a little free entertainment and mental stimulation, check out PodcastAlley, which is a great website that is trying to develop the biggest and best directory of podcasts (podcast directory) available on the Internet. It's one of those fantastic, user-generated communities filled with goodies. For my favorite podcast of all time, just read more
