Cartella MacBook Air Case

If you loved the Little Black Book case for the iPhone 4, then you must take in the Cartella Case for your MacBook Air ($80 for 11-inch, $90 for 13-inch). Like the DODO Case that disguises your iPad as a Moleskine, Pad and Quill has crafted a similarly styled handmade case that encapsulates your light-as-air laptop in a birch wood frame and leather-bound exterior. You'll get access to all of your ports, and your laptop will stay in place thanks to the precise carved (and rubberized) edges.

Check out more images of the Cartella in the slideshow (it's quite beautiful), and order your case online at Pad and Quill now for delivery in three to four weeks.

Just announced by the TSA: your 11-inch MacBook Air can stay in its bag when going through airport security. The 13-inch model, however, can not; you must take it out as you would a regular laptop. The 11-inch Air gained special airport clearance because it's smaller than the average laptop.

Babe, Does This MacBook Air Make Me Look Fat?

I haven't found a geeky Someecard I really loved since Valentine's Day, but I like to cruise around the site every once in awhile to get a hearty dose of LOL.

I haven't found a geeky Someecard I really loved since Valentine's Day, but I like to cruise around the site every once in awhile to get a hearty dose of LOL. And after this week's unveiling of the new MacBook Air, this card in particular seemed especially timely.

Truth told, I'm not worried about the MacBook Air making me look fat. . . it's actually managed to rocket to the top of my wish list, and this card? Well, let's just say its a new favorite.

MacBook Air Hands On: First Impressions

Although the latest updates to the iLife suite were pretty impressive (I'm definitely using that new movie trailer feature), and the forthcoming Lion OS sounds exciting, Steve Jobs' "one more thing," the two new MacBook Airs, kind of stole the Back to the Mac show.

Although the latest updates to the iLife suite were pretty impressive (I'm definitely using that new movie trailer feature), and the forthcoming Lion OS sounds exciting, Steve Jobs' "one more thing," the two new MacBook Airs, kind of stole the Back to the Mac show. Who doesn't love new hardware!? And having voted for new MacBook Airs in our recent event poll, I left Cupertino satisfied.

Being there in person was worth the trip, as I got to play around with both the 13.3- and 11.6-inch models. Find out my thoughts on the new MacBook Airs after the break.

Apple Launches Two New MacBook Airs, Available Today

At this morning's Apple event, Steve Jobs told us that if a MacBook and an iPad hooked up, we'd get the new MacBook Air. But they've been busy — there are two! Introduced today, the 13.3-inch and 11.6-inch MacBook Airs come in at less than three pounds and are wedge-shaped — 0.68 inches at its thickest and 0.11 inches at the thinnest for the 13.3-inch — and come with an all-aluminum unibody. With HD backlit LED displays (with more pixels than the new MacBooks), core 2 duo processor, and FaceTime cameras, the new MacBook Airs are meant to be taken on the road.

There's no optical drive and no hard drive, but the new MBAs have flash storage (which comes in the iPhone and iPad), making them more reliable and super quiet. Both Airs come with up to 30 days of standby time, while the 13.3-inch Air has seven hours of battery life and the smaller 11.6-inch model boasts five hours.

Not One, but Two MacBook Airs Coming This Week?

New details are emerging about the rumored revamp of the MacBook Air, which is due to be announced at this week's Apple event in Cupertino.

New details are emerging about the rumored revamp of the MacBook Air, which is due to be announced at this week's Apple event in Cupertino. Most notably, that there will be two versions, coming in at 13.3 inches and 11.6 inches, which will pack a more powerful battery for up to 10 hours of juice, a slimmer and sleeker body, more ports (including two USB, an SD card slot, and MiniDisplay), while a "well-placed source" hints that the prices could be as low as $1,100 for the 13-inch and $999 for the 11-inch.

I don't know about you, but I'm pretty excited for this revamp — it's been on my mind since the last time the MacBook Air got refreshed in 2009, and I always thought that it would be a better sale if it came with more ports and a lower price. Are you interested in a new MacBook Air, or do you think it's still too expensive for its own good?

More New Products on the Way? What You Didn't Hear at Apple's Press Conference

This morning's press conference from Cupertino may have given the hard numbers behind the iPhone 4's antenna, but there have been speculations of new products that have not yet been introduced.

This morning's press conference from Cupertino may have given the hard numbers behind the iPhone 4's antenna, but there have been speculations of new products that have not yet been introduced. According to a source, the company is planning to release a new, smaller MacBook Air in the second half of 2010. Apparently, it will have an 11.6-inch screen and Intel’s Core i-series processors for extremely efficient power consumption.

Additionally, there is speculation that Apple will also release a new iPod Touch in August or September — perhaps the new FaceTime-enabled model? It's rumored to also include a 3MP camera and the same A4 processor as the iPhone 4.

Apple has not commented on either of these rumored releases.
