The Latest in iPhone 5 and iPad 3 Rumors: October Releases

A new report, a new iPhone 5 rumor.

A new report, a new iPhone 5 rumor. This time, DigiTimes is predicting an October release for both the iPhone 5 and iPad 3, thanks to some details from inside sources at a number of Taiwan-based suppliers.

The report claims that Apple will begin ramping up production for the iPhone 5, as well as a thinner and lighter iPad 3 (sans Retina display) in August for an October launch. It seems unlikely that Apple would roll out another iPad just months after the iPad 2 was introduced, since it has traditionally stuck to the once-a-year product model, but one thing's for certain — iPhone enthusiasts are chomping at the bit to get their hands on what is expected to be the best iPhone yet!

It can be difficult to keep all the rumors straight, so if you want a recap of all the latest, check out our iPhone 5 rumor roundup.

Which Apple Rumor Is More Believable?

It's been a big week for Apple rumors.

It's been a big week for Apple rumors. First, the press hyperanalyzed a statement from one notable industry insider, who brought up the possibility of the iPad 3 coming sometime this Fall. Then we heard that Apple may be developing another version of the iPhone that's smaller and less expensive than the current phone.

Even though the second version of the iPad has yet to be announced, much less released, a "hunch" has propelled it into the territory of speculation. Apparently, some feel that the iPad 2, which is already in production according to the Wall Street Journal, will be a relatively modest update to the existing iPad, adding cameras. The iPad 3, which will come soon after, would be a much larger upgrade — including the high-resolution screen.
