Our high-tech devices could use a boost every once in a while — especially our smartphones. We're using these tiny gizmos to connect to the web all the time, but their Internet antennas aren't actually that powerful, and sometimes data network connections doesn't cut it.
Enter Absolute Technology's Linkase: signal-enhancing tech protection that claims to increase WiFi connectivity up to 50 percent. The signal-boosting case sounds like a dream.
The company developed electromagnetic waveguide technology to improve everyday WiFi performance and provide 360-degree protection. We'll have to see for ourselves how our Internet connections fare when the iPhone 5 case ($50 suggested retail) hits shelves next month. Until then, take a look at Linkase's offerings and find out how the signal-boosting technology works.
Bedazzled tech accessories are nothing new under the sun of flairful tech accessories, but iPhone cases made of genuine stone? That's a hard act to follow. Case-Mate has just introduced its new Gemstones Collection, crafted from some of the most exquisite mineral stones. The petite collection includes three styles: white howlite with rose-gold inflections, turquoise with warm gold striations, and jet gemstone with pyrite inclusions. Each is beautifully contrasted with a complementary brushed aluminum frame. Ringing up at $150 each, we'll consider these investment jewelry.
Phone cases need not be boring, and to keep tired cases at bay, enter the Cellairis by Elle & Blair iPhone Cases. Designed by fashion and beauty experts extraordinaire, Elle and Blaire Fowler, the cases fit for iPhones 4-5 incorporate a pop (or several dozen pops) of rhinestone, two-toned leather, and quilted exteriors, to leave the basics at the door. Look through the gallery for the highlights of Elle and Blaire's 2013 phone collection.
Winter cometh, gadget geek, so prep your tech for cold weather. During shorter days and longer nights, keep locks tucked away in a knit beanie with integrated headphones, or celebrate the coldest season of the year with Winter-themed cases. Look over our picks for the coziest seasonal tech accessories that'll keep you warm until Spring.
This Spring, Lego lovers will be able to build amazing Legoscapes — on the back of their phones. Tech accessory maker Belkin recently announced a multiyear partnership with Lego, which includes a new collection of cases for iOS devices inspired by the iconic brick toy. The initial product line is designed for iPhone and iPod Touch, but Belkin hopes to expand their Lego series to other devices (perhaps Android and Windows 8 handsets?) as well.
The case collection isn't the only high-tech development for Lego this year. The company kept its grown-up geek fan base in good spirits by announcing the third-generation, mobile-focused EV3 robotics kit at CES in January.
The Belkin/LEGO line won't arrive for a couple of months, but here's a peek at what's to come.
Pixels are popping up just about everywhere these days, so it's only natural that the time has come for that love to reach iPhones and iPads. Thanks to one company called Big Big Pixel, 8-bit bumpers for cell phones and sleeves for iPads and MacBook Airs are now a real-life thing. Pick one up and keep your devices covered in some truly geeky 3D style.
Valentine's Day is all about love, so why not channel that sentiment into giving back to worthy charities? One way to do so is buying iPhone cases whose proceeds support organizations making a difference. From helping with Hurricane Sandy relief efforts in our own backyard to combating world hunger a continental away in Africa, do your part while keeping your phone protected. How easy is that?
