Get Virtual Breast Implants With This iPhone App

Have you always wondered what you would look like with larger breasts?

Have you always wondered what you would look like with larger breasts? Then, search no further than iAugment, the free iPhone app that allows you to get a virtual breast augmentation in an instant.

All you have to do is upload a picture of yourself, highlight each breast, adjust the "circles" to your body, accordingly, and then pick your implant size, ranging 210 cc to 690 cc. While the app flips and slightly distorts your image, because it's free and slightly addictive (you can really get ridiculous with this one), it's worth a download — if not just for the laughs it will generate.

See how my augmentation turned out when you read more.

Good Call or Uncalled For? Apple Pulls App For Opposing Gay Marriage

Public outcry ensued when the Manhattan Declaration, a Christian statement opposing gay marriage, recently became an iPhone app, so Steve Jobs made the decision to shut it down.

Public outcry ensued when the Manhattan Declaration, a Christian statement opposing gay marriage, recently became an iPhone app, so Steve Jobs made the decision to shut it down. The manifesto states that marriage is "a conjugal union of man and woman, ordained by God from the creation, and historically understood by believers and nonbelievers alike, to be the most basic institution in society." The app asked users to add their signatures to this declaration.

While it's expected that your stance on gay marriage will influence your feelings about Jobs's decision, and about the app being approved in the first place, there are other factors to consider, like whether or not the app was offensive enough to warrant being axed. Apple gets a lot of flak for its heavy-handed censorship; is this just another example of its attack on freedom of speech? What do you think?

healthy snacks

Use the Shake a Snack App For Healthy Snack Recipes

I'm always up for a good snack, especially if it's a healthy one that tastes delicious.

I'm always up for a good snack, especially if it's a healthy one that tastes delicious. While I'm all for portion-controlling my snack time, I'm not so good at going the even healthier route and making my own snacks, unless it's a simple one like sliced fruit or a bowl of popcorn. That's OK though, because now, like everything, if I want an easy and low-calorie snack recipe, there's an app for that.

The idea of the iPhone Shake a Snack app (free until Dec. 12 on the App Store) is simple: shake it for a random healthy recipe involving just three ingredients. The app looks like a slot machine and the pictures of each food are cute so it's a fun diversion for a few minutes.

If you just want to get down to business, however, you can deselect ingredients you don't like, choose from savory or sweet options, and save your favorites for quick access. You can also switch from cute picture mode to a text list of ingredients and lock down an ingredient if you know you want to use it. The recipes also list the calories in each ingredient.

I love how simple the app's premise and recipes are, and it's a fun way to try combinations you may not come up with on your own, like walnut, mustard, and swiss cheese rolls (136 calories) or a sweet mix of pretzels, peanut butter, and honey (267 calories). And, since it's conveniently on your phone, it's always handy for when that package of cookies is calling your name!

iPhone Apps to Improve Your Relationship, or Not

If your relationship has so many problems that downloading an iPhone app sounds helpful, then maybe the problem is bigger than you think.

If your relationship has so many problems that downloading an iPhone app sounds helpful, then maybe the problem is bigger than you think.

Don't get me wrong. I'm all for using technology to improve relationships, but these apps go beyond facilitating communication. It's like 1970s psychotherapy suspended in time and entered into the app store. One, DTR, asks you to take your relationship's "daily temperature reading" by sending a note of five "feelings, hopes, dreams, and cares" about your relationship every single day.

If you're fighting so often that you can't keep track, there's an app for that. FightTracker not only allows you to monitor how frequent your spats are, but you can record a fight in real time. I'm sure that goes over well — I've always wanted to know what I sound like yelling!

Fix a Fight allows you to identify the "feeling" words, like "angry," "hurt," or "homicidal," you experience after an argument, but I kind of like the sound of Mind Over Marriage. Type the gist of an argument, and a random stranger will write back with a solution. Or you could just post the situation on Group Therapy for free! Maybe we need an app?

Would you use any?

Adidas miCoach Goes Mobile!

When you're pounding the pavement, accumulating mileage, you don't have to go it alone.

When you're pounding the pavement, accumulating mileage, you don't have to go it alone. You can put a coach in your pocket and run with the Adidas miCoach. And Adidas wants to make sure you get out there and work out with a little real-time audio coaching, so the company developed an easy-to-use smart phone app. To ensure no excuse interferes with you lacing up your sneakers, Adidas is offering the miCoach mobile app at a good price: free! It's available on iTunes for both iPhone and BlackBerry mobile devices (and an Android version is in the works, too).

Using the GPS capabilities of these smartphones, the mobile program monitors your pace rather than heart rate, which means no need to wear a constricting strap. Start the app, pick a playlist, and start running. You can be coached through a variety of training programs for running, whether you're just beginning, only have 30 minutes a day, or are training for a marathon. Adidas has also created sport specific conditioning programs for tennis, soccer, football, and basketball to get you ready to compete.

I have yet to use the app myself, but this new app is just the kind of technology that inspires me to get up, get out, and move. I did see a demo of the miCoach mobile and it looks really easy to use with a clean simple interface. The app tracks your mileage and elevation, plus charts out the data at the end of your run. It even maps your route. Plus, the app tracks the mileage you put on your shoes and then reminds you to buy a new pair after 300 miles.

I am going to try it. Are you?

Here are a few more screens from miCoach mobile.

Productivity Tip: Try Toodledo

I recently shared my tip of making a list just so I can cross the items off and asked for your best productivity bets.

I recently shared my tip of making a list just so I can cross the items off and asked for your best productivity bets. GirlOverboard shared a goodie.

I love lists, too, but I'm constantly losing them (usually to the wash or my messy desk). While I do my best day-to-day planning with a physical pencil-and-paper planner, my lists are kept on my iPhone. I use Toodledo and, at the risk of sounding like an ad, I absolutely love it! It helps me prioritize based on date and importance and I can split tasks up into folders. It helped keep me sane through planning my wedding!

The Toodledo app ($2.99) is available for iPhone and iPod Touch from the Apple store. Always have your phone on hand? Check out my tips for using the calculator.
