What do biology, oceanography, and astronomy have in common?

What do biology, oceanography, and astronomy have in common? They're all fields of study under investigation by rad scientists! And they're also the subjects of beautifully illustrated posters by the Brainstorm Print Shop, a two-person design studio spearheaded by Jason Snyder and Briana Feola.

Jason and Briana set out to create art to "charm, humor, and educate" — and that's certainly what these science prints do. From whimsical cell diagrams to a mod, minimalist cross section of the Earth's atmosphere, you'll love all of these nods to science for your home.

The idea of video games getting the feature-length treatment isn't revolutionary, but these video game movie posters from Etsy artist Ron Guyatt are. Combining a vintage feel with a propaganda-inspired esthetic makes titles like Tetris, Halo, and Deadspace look like they'd be pretty badass on the big screen.

The prints are 13 inches by 19 inches, which can make a nice addition to your wall, but combining a few in one area can create a bold art instillation for any video game fanatic. Ron Guyatt's shop has a smashing deal going on right now — buy six posters for just $60. See? Perfect timing.

The Creators Project, a revolutionary partnership between Intel and Vice magazine, invaded San Francisco's waterfront Fort Mason Center this weekend with an extravaganza of tech-driven art, film, music, artist talks, panel discussions, and creative workshops. Dedicated to supporting artists in realizing their creative visions through technology, the event was an astounding showcase of mind-tripping, interactive installations that entertained geeks and art lovers alike. And since no good fest is complete without dance-demanding, fist-pumping beats, much-anticipated LCD Soundsystem alumni James Murphy, Pat Mahoney, and Nancy Whang, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Squarepusher also headlined a 10-act musical lineup. The project, which has united more than 150 artists from around the world in its three-year history, drew more than 25,000 attendees over two days.

Didn't make it to the event? Watch out for it this year when it returns to Paris, São Paulo, Beijing, Seoul, and New York. But first, experience it all vicariously with a few awe-inspiring photos and glimpse some of the impressive artwork that was shown.

Ralph McQuarrie, artist, and the first person hired by George Lucas to conceptualize the Star Wars universe, passed away this weekend at age 82. When George had a hard time selling a science fiction film to Hollywood studios, he turned to Ralph to paint the beautifully detailed characters, locations, and action scenes to show executives the films were much more than a space-based fairy tale.

George remembered his film partner in a statement: "Beyond the movies, his artwork has inspired at least two generations of younger artists — all of whom learned through Ralph that movies are designed. Like me, they were thrilled by his keen eye and creative imagination, which always brought concepts to their most ideal plateau."

Ralph later went on to create the concept art for other famous adventure films, including Back to the Future, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and E.T.. See a few of his most memorable paintings brought to life in Star Wars.
