Wooden Cat Docking Station: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?

Check out my latest Etsy find: a wooden cat head docking station ($34) for iPhones and iPods.

Check out my latest Etsy find: a wooden cat head docking station ($34) for iPhones and iPods. Etsy user lytsethommy carves sustainable wood into a geometric cat head, adds a few circles and triangles to his design, and the end result is this adorably cute docking station. The big question is whether or not adorable is your kind of thing.

An iPhone or iPod sits in an opening on the top of the docking station, which needs to be plugged into a computer for charging. What do you think — totally geeky or geek chic?

Geeky Products Made From Bamboo

Not to be confused with our wide selection of wood products, these bamboo products may look like they're derived from the pine tree family, when in fact they are in an entirely different league of their own. Half part tech accessory, half part eco-chic, all of these products have one thing in common — they all feature some bamboo in their construction. Whether you're looking for something that's less plastic, and more natural, my little list will help you find some back-to-bamboo-basic items.

Charge It! Go Eco With the Bamboo Charging Station

If you're rolling solo, it's likely that you won't need a gadget charging station that holds more than a few mobile gadgets that you use daily (i.e., your phone, iPod or MP3 player, and point-and-shoot camera), so why spend your hard earned money on something you don't need?

Homedics Alarm Clock Is iPod Friendly and Keeps You Calm

Alarm clocks have sure come a long way over the years.

Alarm clocks have sure come a long way over the years. Instead of being forced to wake-up by the shrill sound of an old school alarm clock, we now have the choice to be serenaded by nature sounds or gradual light exposure.

The Homedics SoundSpa Fusion Alarm Clock($60) could easily belong with the rest of my sleek alarm clocks selections with its large LCD display and five interchangeable face plates. It also gives you the option of waking up to six different nature sounds, or the radio, or your iPod. And how much do I love the fact that the auto-off sleep timer can be set to 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes? Yay to sleeping in!

The Name Says It All: Bluelounge's Refresh Charging Station

In case you haven't noticed, I have a thing for charging stations.

In case you haven't noticed, I have a thing for charging stations. I just can't get enough of 'em. Call it my OCD for cable management, or the fact that between my boyfriend and I combined, we have more gadgets than a small country, but I love a nice and neat desk where my gadgets can refresh and recharge. This is why I love Bluelounge's Refresh charging station. Coming in three colors (black, white and pink), the Refresh boasts mini and micro USB cables, and has room for five of your most coveted gadgets: iPod, BlackBerry, iPhone, camera, or whatever you need juiced up.

Although I have much love for this simple and stylish charging station, I do have a gripe: the $90 price tag. Whoa? Whoa is right. Sure, this baby keeps all your cords out of sight and managed, but how much are you willing to pay for a sleek pink plastic box? Ponder that, my friends.

LEGO iPod Dock: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?

The LEGO obsession continues with this Lego iPod dock from 10x10.

The LEGO obsession continues with this Lego iPod dock from 10x10. Featured on technabob, these tiny blocks come with built-in speakers, which I'm assuming are the crosses in the front. This may be a wild guess, but expect sound quality similar to that when you crank up your iPod full blast with the earphones still connected. As for a power source, that I'm still trying to figure out. Priced around $16. A geeky or geek chic accessory?

New Samsung Docking Station: Sleek, Multi-Functional

I got a chance to check out Samsung's new lineup of gadgets and gizmos this week and was very impressed with their upcoming Samsung MM-X5 MP3 Player Docking Station.

I got a chance to check out Samsung's new lineup of gadgets and gizmos this week and was very impressed with their upcoming Samsung MM-X5 MP3 Player Docking Station. It plays content from MP3 players, including any generation Apple iPod as well as CDs. The device has a built-in USB port that allows for instant music file playback from a standard USB memory drive as well, so if you're too lazy to put your music on your player you can just plug in your flash drive.

The MM-X5 comes in Samsung's token piano finish black and unlike some of the more simple docks on the market features a built-in display and an alarm that lets consumers select songs to wake up to. It features built-in 20 Watt speakers (10 Watts each), combined with Samsung's Digital Natural Sound engine technology. Available this October for $199.
