Armored Transport For Your Cords: AT-AT Cable Manager

Although the AT-AT dog costume would be an amazing addition to your Star Wars-themed Halloween getup, let's face it — that thing looks pretty uncomfortable for Fido.

Although the AT-AT dog costume would be an amazing addition to your Star Wars-themed Halloween getup, let's face it — that thing looks pretty uncomfortable for Fido. If you're still craving some Walker goodness, turn your attention to your home office with the DIY Cable Management Holder ($40). Not only can you get some good crafting time in by building it yourself, this cable management system sits atop your desk and keeps your cables and cords neatly in place.

How-To: Clean Up Chargers and Cords

If you're anything like me, then you've got several drawers that look much like the one in this picture.

If you're anything like me, then you've got several drawers that look much like the one in this picture. Every electronic comes with at least one cord (though usually there are more), and it's not always in use. That brings me to my biggest issue with electrical cords and chargers: storage. What on earth do I do with all these wires? More times than not the ugly chargers end up in a tangled mess in a few drawers throughout the house or, even worse, hanging out on my counter tops. A super organized pal recently told me her no-hassle solution to my problem, and I decided to give it a try. Want to see what my cords look like now? Then read more

Let Your Cables Stand Out: The NUD Cable Collection

If you're obsessed with going wireless because of a few unattractive power cables, then maybe these will help you ease up on your cord management obsession.

If you're obsessed with going wireless because of a few unattractive power cables, then maybe these will help you ease up on your cord management obsession. The NUD Collection of cables and lights is an eye-catching group of textile-wrapped cables which come in different (read: fashionable) colors and textures, meant to draw attention rather than blend in.

Currently available only for geeks living in Europe (lucky dogs, you!), the NUD cables come with porcelain lightbulb holders (so you can hang your lights in style), in power brick form with multiple outlets, and as extension cords, keeping your behind-the-TV outlets looking fresh. All the NUD cables come in varying lengths from one to 10 meters (that's three to 32 feet for the rest of you), so you can style your room around your power from now on, instead of the other way around.

Magneat Organizers Keep Your Headphone Cables in Place

There's plenty of ways to organize your cables when you're at home, but while you're on the go, wrap up those earphone cables with the Magneat Cable Organizer ($15).

There's plenty of ways to organize your cables when you're at home, but while you're on the go, wrap up those earphone cables with the Magneat Cable Organizer ($15).

The Magneat lets you wrap up extra cable while you've got your headphones on, and attaches to your shirt (or bag) like a pin. But get this — you won't have to damage your clothes with a pin prick since the Magneat attaches via a magnet. (Get it? Magneat?) There's plenty of designs to suit your tastes, but I happen to be partial to the Pixel Skulls here. So cute, yet so edgy.

Casa Quickie: Cable Clutter Fix

Artist Maisie Maud Broadhead has come up with the most clever solution to those ever-pesky cables in our homes.

Artist Maisie Maud Broadhead has come up with the most clever solution to those ever-pesky cables in our homes. Using cable fixings, she attached her lamp cord to the wall above her mantel, "drawing" a beautiful trompe-l'œil installation. I've seen plenty of ways to hide your cable cords — like the beads I posted this week — but this remedy doesn't conceal electrical wire, but rather showcases it, turning the eyesore into the eye-catching. This design in particular looks like it would require a fairly long cord, but the possibilities are really endless when it comes to what shapes you can create.

Cool Idea: Conquer Cable Cords With Beads

While there are many ways to hide your cable cords, this is perhaps the cutest one I've happened upon so far.

While there are many ways to hide your cable cords, this is perhaps the cutest one I've happened upon so far. It's also a really cheap option for adding a little decorating power to something that's most definitely an eyesore.
To try this at home, simply buy large wooden beads and string them over any exposed cords. An added bonus? It'll be a lot harder to trip over the cords, since it'll be easier to see them!

Handmade Cable Identifiers Are Fun and Functional

In the ongoing battle of human versus cord, there are many ways to manage cables.

In the ongoing battle of human versus cord, there are many ways to manage cables.

I have possibly just found the cutest: Etsy seller bearduck has crafted these Cable Identifiers (8 bucks for a set of six) to keep each of your gadgets' cords separate.

The multicolored identifiers are made of a polymer clay, and sport little icons of what they belong to, so if you need to do anything with the plugs, your confusion is totally zapped.
