Rumors of the T-Mobile G2 have been flying around since 2008 (!) but there's new confirmation that an announcement of the device is finally in the works — via an incredibly geeky tweet. The message, posted by T-Mobile's Twitter account is entirely in binary code and, according to those familiar, translates to "G2newscomingsoon."

Rumors say that the new device will cost $199 with a two-year contract, or $499 without, however, we got some confirmed details in a press release last night. Find out what the G2 is packing under the hood (along with a new pic) after the break.

Binary Code Items

If you really want to show off your geek pride, nothing screams geek louder than a binary code tee. Except for maybe a few of these other binary goods that will leave few questions on whether or not you're a fan of the code. Check out a few of my faves, including one that's not really binary, but I couldn't help but throw it in anyway.

Binary Encoder Ring: Love It or Leave It?

Binary apparel is so hot right now!

Binary apparel is so hot right now! First it was that awesomely chic clothing line Rhombus, and now there's this Binary Encoder Ring by designer Jonathan Ben-Tovim.

Now if I were going to wear a binary ring, I'd pick this over the metal Binary Wedding Ring — the material is rad looking, and you can of course customize the code, but no price on it kinda scares me. I think they're cool and classy, but I could see others not being as into them. What do you think?

Binary Button-Down Has Me Doing the Math For Shipping + Tax

Yesterday I introduced you to the geeky clothing line Rhombus, and because I was so caught up in the presentation of nerd courtship, I didn't get to highlight any of the individual pieces. Something I couldn't resist showing you was something truly geeky, but in such an undercover way that it's not like wearing a message T and bashing people over the head with it: The James dress shirt in binary (it's in Flash, so just navigate to the women's section in the online store).

Other binary apparel can be sort of geek in the unglamorous way, what with t-shirts that make you wear your hobbies on your sleeve, literally. I love a good button-down, and for one in subtle binary code, it's already got me sold. The only thing I'd be worried about is fellow male geeks staring — they've got the perfect excuse: "I'm trying to read your shirt." Sure you are, buddy.

Binary Birthday Cards: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?

When you're a geek you're a geek all the way from your first motherboard to your last coding day. But does that mean you should celebrate your birthday geek style? I'd be happy to receive one of these handmade Binary Birthday Cards, $2.50, but I'm not sure my friends would feel the same way. What do you think?

Dot Matrix Wallet: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?

There are a lot of geek items out there that we might want, but we really don't need.

There are a lot of geek items out there that we might want, but we really don't need. I'll never use a digital keychain, but I want one. I can't imagine even trying on a Cycling Bib With Built-in MP3 player, but I wouldn't mind seeing someone else in one.

The Dot Matrix Billfold, $15, falls in that same category, of semi-useless, but very entertaining items. It's covered in Dot Matrix printer type, showcasing the first 3,000 digits of pi. Yeah, it's that geeky.

Still, I think the subtle colors and print offer a certain element of chic. Am I crazy?
