Rev up your Lightcycles, as Tron: Legacy hits theaters this Friday. The plot's cool and all, but we're excited about the characters' geek-chic look. Makeup artist Rosalina Da Silva worked closely with the film's hairstylists, costume designer, and director to capture the high-tech look the characters sport in the film. "My intention in creating these designs and keeping the palette monochromatic was to make sure that the actors totally fit into the set and became a part of it . . . assuming and reflecting the ambiance," she explained. To see how Rosalina achieved these elaborate effects, keep reading.

5 Ways to Add a Little Tron to Your Life
ICYMI, Tron: Legacy is hitting theaters soon, and while I'll be attending the midnight 3D IMAX screening with friends in some comfy layers, I'm betting that there will be some mega fans out there that come in all dolled up as Quorra, Flynn, Sam, or Clu. And if DIY'ing your own costume is too much for you to bear, you can always throw down your dollars for some Tron-inspired accessories to sport at your own premiere. Check out a few here!
Yes, You Can Own a Tron Lightcycle Look-Alike
The premiere of Tron: Legacy is just a few weeks away (get excited!), but if you want to take a piece of the action home with you, look no further than Florida-based Parker Brothers Choppers. The talented crew at this particular
chop shop have created an incredibly life-like version of the revamped lightcycles you see in the film, and getting one will only set you back about $55,000. Bonus — you can even trick yours out with an iPad dock. The only thing it's missing? Lights!
A word of caution to those of you willing to shell out the cash to own a cycle of your own: if you pair this bike with one of the other Tron: Legacy-inspired goods (like the Hayden-Harnett bag, any of the TomTom jewelry, or official motocycle suits), you may end up looking like a major cosplay nerd who wandered away from the Comic-Con expo floor. Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course.
Opening Ceremony Goes Futuristic With Tron: Legacy Collection
Disney's Tron: Legacy, which comes out on Dec. 17, may not be a traditionally fashionable flick, but there's lots of style connected to it. There's the edgy Tron-inspired TomTom jewelry line, a pop-up store dedicated to it in LA, and now Opening Ceremony has teamed up with Disney for a Tron: Legacy clothing collection. Actress Olivia Wilde, who stars in the movie, has already been spotted in some pieces, including the royal blue tulip dress ($290). If you want to look like Olivia, or seek a funky futuristic vibe, here's your cue.
Burton Celebrates Tron With Sleek Styled Boots
Winter is synonymous with snow sports, so if you're already planning your Winter weekend getaways, take note of these awesome Burton Raptor Boots ($229) that come in a special Tron hue.
I don't claim to be an expert on the slopes, but what I can tell you is that these snowboarding boots are said to come with some amazing heel holds, power straps, and something called an "Articulating Cuff" so you can easily wind your way down the course. Women shoppers beware: these are men's boots but just size them down for your smaller-sized peds.
So if I'm not a boarder, why am I interested? It's The Grid, man. The Grid.
Edgy Tron-Inspired Jewelry From TomTom
As more Tron-inspired fashion accessories start to drop, I am in serious drool-worthy mode. I'm already lusting for a bag from Hayden-Harnett's Tron: Legacy collection, and now, these Tron-esque pieces from TomTom have me wanting more. I love the symmetry of each piece, especially the bright splashes of blue from the lucite and topaz stones. The gunmetal also gives it a hard look that definitely bring an edginess to any outfit.
These pieces are definitely an investment though, ranging from $225 to $495, and are yet to be released. The TomTom website states that its Tron-inspired line will be available in "Holiday 2010." It will also be sold at the Tron pop-up shop in Culver City beginning on November 19th. How much are you willing to spend on your Tron obsession?
Tron Store Pops Up in LA For Your Shopping Pleasure
Remember those amazing Tron-inspired Hayden-Harnett bags and accessories I told you about last month? Well, if you live in (or are traveling to) LA starting on Nov. 19, you can get an up-close look at the must haves for yourself at the new Tron pop-up shop.
Filled with designer goods, tees, jackets, and specialty memorabilia from the movie, the Tron pop-up shop should be the holiday destination for Tron Legacy fanatics out there. I mean, I'm not trying to tell you to skip your family's traditional Thanksgiving dinner or anything, but the shop is only open through Dec. 23, so get there fast. Perfect place to find a gift for a geek on your shopping list? Totally.
Cyberspace Outlaws: 5 Movies About Hacking
Like a lot of other people, I spent my weekend watching The Social Network. One of my favorite scenes is when Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg) — drunk and rejected — ends his night blogging on LiveJournal and hacking into Harvard's system. I always love a good computer hacking scene: they're full of energy, adrenaline, and it's funny to see just how wrong the movies depict hacks. When it comes to cyberspace and hacking there's a lot to choose from in Hollywood. Here are five films that made the cut.
Tron: Legacy Is Out to Impress at Comic-Con With New Trailer!
Disney pulled out all of the stops for its Tron: Legacy panel. Stars Jeff Bridges, Olivia Wilde, Michael Sheen, and hot-actor-to-watch Garrett Hedlund stopped in, as director Joseph Kosinski gave us an idea of what to except when the film drops in December — along with eight full minutes of footage, a brand new trailer, and of course, some audience interaction.

- Patton Oswalt kicked off the panel by serving as moderator. He immediately set up a light tone for the rest of the hour, as he quipped that they'd be showing an in memoriam of all the fans who died waiting for the movie to get made. Also a fun touch: a mashup video of pop culture Tron references on everything from 30 Rock to The Simpsons.
- Kosinski spent a few minutes speaking about the technology of the upcoming film, which includes fully illuminated suits for the costumes, and is shot with a Fusion camera system — that means it's created in 3D, not converted later. Sheen remarked that it's actually in 4D, because "Jeff Bridges brings an extra dimension of awesomeness."
- Speaking of Bridges, everyone was abuzz because he's actually playing two characters in this film. He'll be reprising both of his roles from the original as Kevin Flynn and Flynn's avatar Clu; however, since Clu can't age, Bridges plays himself at 35 years old with the help of a little camera magic. As to playing the same character he portrayed over 27 years ago, Bridges called the experience "psychedelic" in his trademark dude drawl.
- Wilde represented for the ladies, and we got a look at Quorra, a character she describes as a "powerful, kick-ass woman." "She's a warrior," said Wilde. "I've wanted to play a warrior a long time." The only downside, apparently, was that the role called for heels — on top of all the combat training: "I had do kicks and stuff in the suit!"
