Retro Mixtape Watch: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?

EOS New York's Mixtape Watch ($102) takes time telling back to yesteryear, with an audiocassette watch face that moves itself like a tape deck.

EOS New York's Mixtape Watch ($102) takes time telling back to yesteryear, with an audiocassette watch face that moves itself like a tape deck.

The black disk spins with the seconds, and the white disk moves with the hour. The anodized black stainless steel case is water resistant up to 99 feet, and the leather strap makes for a rather dashing appearance.

Retro technology — especially vintage music tech — always makes us think fondly of the good ole days. But what about wearing the obsolete tech . . . on your wrist? Is this mixtape watch totally geeky or geek chic?

Memoring: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?

What's more romantic than a promise to love and cherish forever?

What's more romantic than a promise to love and cherish forever? How about a promise to never forget, or at least to never misplace those important files? With Memoring, you can do both. The simple neon plastic rings, which are actually USB flash drives, come in their own ring box and are available in festive colors like pink, yellow, or my favorite: glitter.

At about $36 for 2GB, these little plastic USB keys don't run cheap, even if they double as a fun accessory (or geeky engagement gag!). But I love the colors in all the photos on the site, and especially love the cute designs on the presentation boxes that they come packaged in. What do you think?

Startup Apparel T-shirts: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?

Since Sugar HQ is based in San Francisco, we're in an area of the country where start-up culture is rampant.

Since Sugar HQ is based in San Francisco, we're in an area of the country where start-up culture is rampant. It seems every week we hear about a new company, often being started by the creators of an old company. Fittingly, a new t-shirt line is taking advantage of the start-up culture with its line of appropriately-themed duds.

Startup Apparel features t-shirts with messages like, "It's all about the #startup life," and, "Will work for equity." As a SF resident and Internet-culture enthusiast, I like these shirts! Do they resonate with you?

Pixelated Lego Table: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?

Check out this Lego table, created using a basic Ikea table and a whole lot of Lego bricks. The creator used a Google Docs spreadsheet to determine the proper aspect ratio and number of Lego pieces it would take to finish the design.

After calculating the necessary amount and colors of pieces necessary, he ordered pieces from Lego and spent a Saturday with friends assembling the table and creating an awesome time-lapse video. I wonder which was harder to put together, the Lego top or the Ikea table itself? And what do you think of it?

Twitter Handle Necklaces: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?

I admit it: I love Twitter.

I admit it: I love Twitter. Not only is Twitter a great way to keep up on the news around the world, but I also have a direct line to some of my favorite stars, tech celebs, and all-around smart people. I've learned so much! So of course, I'm a little enamored by the idea of these At Symbol and Birdie Twitter necklaces ($49 each), which you can have customized with your own Twitter handle. Made from stainless steel and sparkles, thanks to your choice of Swarovski crystal, you can (subtly) broadcast your love for the micro site every day. What do you think?

If you're already a Twitter superstar, then you probably don't need these tee shirts, but if you're aiming high and trying to up your follower count, then the @MeTee could come in handy.

Sushi iPhone Case: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?

There are many ways to disguise your tech in food, but sometimes one comes along that just takes the cake.

There are many ways to disguise your tech in food, but sometimes one comes along that just takes the cake. Or the uni, like this sushi case for your iPhone.

The cover turns your streamlined smartphone into something fit for a Japanese restaurant display, at least from the back. The cases are pretty, but it looks like it would be very impractical to have those bulky plastic pieces stuck to the back of your iPhone 4 (although maybe they are useful as a stand?)!

These iPhone cases adorned with realistic sushi can be yours for around $50 from this Japanese site. While they may put you in the mood for a raw fish dinner, would you buy one for your phone?
