The Emmy Awards aren't until next Sunday, Aug. 29, but whetting our palate for the big show was last night's Creative Arts Emmys, lovingly called the "Schmemmys" by one of my favorite funny gals, Kathy Griffin.
These awards are passed out for achievements in categories like cinematography, editing, sound, mixing, and the like (you know, geeky stuff), and a few of my favorites took home top honors during the broadcast. From Star Wars, to Jimmy Fallon, to a former Dr. Horrible, to a YouTube sensation, check out all the geeky winners of the Creative Arts Emmys below!
- Best short form picture editing — Late Night With Jimmy Fallon
- Best Short Form Animated Program — Robot Chicken
- Best Voiceover Performance —Anne Hathaway, The Simpsons

Casey Pugh put out a call to the Internet last year: help him remake Star Wars. To contribute, fans signed up for specific 15 second clips from the movie via Casey's website Star Wars Uncut. The instructions were simple — recreate the scene in any way they liked. (And boy did they ever.) Hundreds of clips and 472 fans later, Star Wars: A New Hope was born.
While the film already had its European debut earlier this week, dates for stateside screenings are still being worked out. I, for one, cannot freakin' wait.
