Space Invaders Take Over Your iDevices

Fact: you love Space Invaders today as much as you did when you were a kid.

Fact: you love Space Invaders today as much as you did when you were a kid. But now, your gaming has gone to the next level with your fancy PS3, Xbox, or portable tablet. Game on your iPad instead of an arcade these days? Then take a trip down memory lane with the Space Invaders iPad, iPhone, and MacBook cases from Case Scenario. Starting at around $42 for an iPhone case and ranging all the way up to $85 for an iPad case (coming in hardcover book or hard-shell models), you can take the memory of your favorite retro childhood game with you wherever you go, and keep your iDevice protected from the dangers of your tote bag.

Though these cases evoke flashbacks of your days in the pizza parlor arcade, Case Scenario has made sure that these designs are more on the grown-up side, so you won't be shamed out of your office when you whip out your tablet. In fact, I'm sure your officemates will be quite jealous.

Submit to Your Alien Overlords: Space Invaders Home Decor

Being the classic video game geek that I am, you can bet I have a few Space Invaders-themed goods in my home, but there are a few I'd like to add to the collection.

Being the classic video game geek that I am, you can bet I have a few Space Invaders-themed goods in my home, but there are a few I'd like to add to the collection. Take for example, the colorful chairs on the bottom left. These are still in production as prototypes, but I'm betting that geeks with some spare cash would throw down some serious dough to have one of their own. If you're looking to outfit your kitchen, there's the Space Invaders cutting board ($130) and coaster set ($60), and handmade kitchen table lampshades ($70). Bring alien life into your bedroom with the Space Invaders alarm clock ($40) and mirror set ($52), and next time you have a party, be sure to stock your freezer with the Ice Invaders ice cube trays ($8), which are both affordable and entertaining.

Geeky Coasters

Every year around this time, my mom breaks out the holiday tablecloths and dresses the dining room table in poinsettias and holly to prepare for family gatherings. My taste, it's not, but even if you can't change the landscape of your mom's table, you can dress yours up with something a little more your style in the form of coasters. Easy to transport from coffee to dining table, these coasters give your place setting the perfect geeky touch!

New Spanish Neighborhood Gets Video Game-Inspired Streets

You know that game where you put together the name of your first pet and the street you grew up on to form your porn name?

You know that game where you put together the name of your first pet and the street you grew up on to form your porn name? Well, if some of the residents of Arcosur, Spain tried this, it wouldn't have quite the same effect.

See, the growing Spanish town is undergoing a big transformation, building out a portion of the city to bring in over 60,000 new residents. City officials wanted to make naming the newly-developed streets a social event and asked the current residents to vote for their favorite street name themes in an online poll. Surprisingly (or not surprisingly?) enough, video games won. Now, a dozen streets in the developing area of Arcosur have classic video game names like "Avenida de Super Mario Bros," with others being dubbed with the likes of Space Invaders, Sonic The Hedgehog, and Legend of Zelda.

At a recent party celebrating the opening of the new streets, Mario himself made an appearance, while gaming fans, young and old, wore big mustaches to emulate their favorite plump plumber. "Ginger Super Mario Bros." Nope, definitely not a good porn name.

Space Invaders Packing Tape Makes Moving Fun

Yesterday, I gave you some insider tips on how to make moving your gadgets easy, and whether you're moving into a new apartment or dorm room or making a cross-country relocation, adding the Space Invaders Packing Tape ($5) into the mix could help turn a potentially stressful situation into something fun.

Yesterday, I gave you some insider tips on how to make moving your gadgets easy, and whether you're moving into a new apartment or dorm room or making a cross-country relocation, adding the Space Invaders Packing Tape ($5) into the mix could help turn a potentially stressful situation into something fun.

Coming in a pack of three, you can wrap up your fragile glassware, cords, cables, and office supplies, then put their fate in the hands of the Invaders to keep things neat and tidy on the outside. Although I'm pretty sure I won't be moving again any time soon, I may just order some of these to add a touch of geek to my shipments.

Came across this art installation in Green Point, Brooklyn near the KCDC skateshop. The overall feel of the little Space Invader falling down the side of the building really does it for me.

Space Invaders Couch: Love It or Leave It?

My usual way of thinking is that you can never have too many Space Invaders around, but I may have to draw the line at this Space Invader couch.

My usual way of thinking is that you can never have too many Space Invaders around, but I may have to draw the line at this Space Invader couch. It could be the ultimate addition to a chic basement game room (or high-tech and nerdy-chic office like in one of the photos below), but I don't think it was made for actual comfort, and it would definitely be difficult to design a room around such a large piece of furniture. Maybe the folks on Design Star could figure something out.

Space Invaders iPad Case Rocks My World

I don't know what it is, but handcrafted leather goods always make me drool (especially when they're white).

I don't know what it is, but handcrafted leather goods always make me drool (especially when they're white). So when I came across this Space Invader iPad Sleeve ($78) from Etsy, I had to stop myself from reaching for my credit card.

Not only is it handmade with love and affection, but it has the classic arcade characters laser etched on the front. I can't think of a better way to show off your geek pride than with a few Invaders and an iPad. Well, unless you count the fantastic game-inspired goods we've accounted for lately. Ah well, the more Invader the merrier I suppose!

Space Invaders Mirrors: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?

Taking it back to the old school, these Space Invaders Mirrors ($52) I stumbled upon over the long weekend would fit in quite nicely with the rest of my retro gaming decor.

Taking it back to the old school, these Space Invaders Mirrors ($52) I stumbled upon over the long weekend would fit in quite nicely with the rest of my retro gaming decor. Not to say that my whole apartment is saturated with these characters of course (although it wouldn't be hard to do), but I can't get over how hot these mirrors look against the wood and brick walls! You could tastefully rock a game room with these babies, for sure. Coming in two styles (arms up, arms down, and a kit including the characters, gun, and bullet for $530), I think they're quite fetching. Share your opinion — do you think they're totally geeky or geek chic?
